OBITUARY: Well-known Hants County businessman passes on
Keizer, Bernard James "Bernie" - 62, Belmont, Hants Co.,passed away on June
4, 2004, in Hantsport. Born January 8, 1942, in Halifax, he was a son of the
late Percy and Hazel (Ferguson) Keizer. Bernie was in the sanitation
business and owned and operated Keizer Recycling for over 30 years. He
enjoyed dancing and was often commented on how "light" he was on his feet.
Bernie dearly loved his family and friends and will be sadly missed by them
all. Surviving are his companion and best friend of 32 years, Dorothy
Hatchard; daughter, Kathy (Kevin) Boland, Ontario; son, Bernie (Ginni),
Amherst; step-children, Julie, Susan, Pam, Brenda, Harlen, Raymond and
Ricky; nine grandchildren; one special grandson, "Ronnie"; sisters, Joyce
Keizer, Halifax; Dorothy (Almon) Jennings, Oromocto, N.B.; Shirley
(Nathaniel) Walters, Rachel Keizer, Betty Anne (Al Gower, Judy (Larry
Hartlan), all of Halifax; brothers, Percy (Joyce), Halifax; James (Krista),
Ontario; Ernest (Diane), Halifax; Murray (Pam), Ontario; Richard (Rita) and
John (Carol) and stepbrother Harold Keizer, all of Halifax; 52 nieces and
nephews. He was predeceased by sister Gloria and stepbrother, Eddie.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of J. Wilson Allen Funeral
Home. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today in the funeral home, Highway 215,
Summerville, Hants Co., Rev. Garnet Parker officiating. Family flowers only
please, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Kempt
United Baptist Church. Arrangements entrusted to J. Wilson Allen Funeral
