Edna (Ellis) Blair
Edna (Ellis) Blair CALGARY, AB - It is with sadness that we announce the death on Monday, March 20, 2006 of Edna (Ellis) Blair at Extendicare Cedars Villa in Calgary, Alberta in her 94th year. She was born in Janeville, New Brunswick on May 24th, 1912, the third daughter of Melvin and Ethel Ellis. She was educated in Janeville and Bathurst and went on to the Provincial Normal School in Fredericton. She taught for five years in various rural schools in the Bathurst Area. She married Donald Blair in 1939 and was widowed in 1947 when Don died in a drowning accident. She was left with three children to raise and a business to operate (Pepper's Drug Store, Bathurst). Through joy or adversity, Edna never failed to rise to any occasion through her sparkling humour which she maintained through her life to the very end. She lived in Bathurst most of her life and was an active member of Saint George's Anglican Church. She was also a member of the Nicolas Denys Chapter of the I.O.D.E. Edna was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Don, and two sisters, Annie Foley and Edrie Hornibrook. In 1999, she moved to Calgary, Alberta where she has resided for the past 7 years. She is survived by her three children, Donna (Peter) Gummer and Robert Blair, both of Calgary, Alberta, and Janet (David) Millar of Concord, North Carolina; her sister, Ada Smith of Janeville, N.B., her sister-in-law, Grace Branch, Bathurst; and several nieces and nephews and their families whom she dearly loved. The joys of her life were her grandchildren, Natalie (John Watrous) Gummer, Lynda (Austreberto Gaitan) Gummer, Laura (Peter) Christie, Kimberley (Brad) Aelicks, Donald (Linda) Blair, and Jill Awkerman and her great-grandchildren, Natasha and Ben Aelicks; Emma Christie; and Natalia and Alejandro Gaitan. A memorial service will be held in Calgary at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2006 at St. Andrew's Anglican Church in Calgary and another at St. George's Anglican Church in Bathurst at 2 p.m. on May 17, 2006. Memorial tributes may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.

Capt. Joseph Dillon was born 16 Apr 1842 at Wood's Mountain. On 15 Nov 1864,
he married Esther Hoben. By the 1881 Cumberland Census, they had issue of at
least six children: Sarah Jane, Mary Salome, Ellen Gertrude, Albert,
Frederick M., and Grace Clark Dillon.

Sometime between the spring of 1881 and 1894, Capt. Joseph is remarried to
whom I believe to be Agnes Ann Holland, born 15 Dec 1865 at Deck Cove,
Queens County, N.S., and living in Saint John, N.B.

On 24 Oct 1894 at Saint John, N.B., a daughter, Isabella Vivian Dillon is
born. She m/1 29 Jun 1911, Robert Gordon Blair, also from Saint John, N.B.

What happened to his first family?

Grace Clark Dillon is known to be in New York in 1934, per her delayed
registered birth application.

Frederick M. Dillon, 6 Apr 1865, may have died young as he's not on the 1881
census.
