Marion Viola Thompson

Marion Viola Thompson, 96, formerly of Little River, passed away Tuesday,
July 28, 2015 at East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash, NS.

Marion was born in Little River to William and Reta (Thompson) Baird on
August 7, 1918. She married Russell Wilbert Thompson on January 26, 1937.
They were happily married for 47 years.

Marion led a very full and active life. She was a devoted wife, mother,
grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother. She was an
active member of the Little River Baptist Church and a founding member of
the Little River Baptist Ladies Circle and remained a member for 53 years.
She was a Sunday School teacher and choir member. She was a woman of many
gifts and abilities. She worked as camp cook back in the day of logging
camps. She helped her husband with many farm activities and raised a variety
of poultry. She worked for many years, as a nurse, at the Sunset County
Home, Pugwash, NS. She worked as a Caregiver in Springhill and at Shady
Rest, Oxford, as well as in the lab at Oxford Frozen Foods Ltd. She was the
4-H Leader of the Little River Garment Club for 12 years and designed many
of the projects members made over the years. She was chosen as Mrs.
Chatelaine for Nova Scotia in the nationally circulated magazine,
Chatelaine.

She was predeceased by her husband, Russell Wilbert Thompson; sister, Helen
Scott and brother, Kempton Baird. She is survived by three sons, Darrell
(Sheila) of Leicester, NS; Ronal (Marilyn) of Amherst, NS; Brian
(Laura-Jean) of Campbell River, BC and two daughters, Irene (Gerry) Morgan
of Madoc, ON and Alexis (Doug) Letcher of Amherst, NS. She is also survived
by nine grandchildren, Kelly (Vaughn), Greg & Randy; Kelly TJ & Ron Jr;
Gordon (Kate) & Tracy (Matt); Step granddaughter, Gayle (Larry), Jeri-Leanne
(Brock) and 13 great grandchildren: Justin & Lindsay; Lindsey & Danielle;
Ryan, Brooke & Trent; Colton, Carter, Keiver & Marshall; Brynne & Kyden and
one great, great grandson, Ethan.

Arrangements have been entrusted into the care and guidance of W. Allen
Funeral Home, 60 Water Street, Oxford (902-447-2167) from where a time of
visitation will be held 6-8 pm on Friday, July 31, 2015. A funeral service
will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 11 am with a
burial to follow in the Birch Grove Cemetery. Rev. Chris Greer officiating.

Donations in memory of Marion may be made to the East Cumberland Lodge, The
Little River Baptist Church, or a charity of the donor's choice.
