James E. Conley, 91, of Hunt Glen, Granby, husband of the late Eunice (Marshman) Conley, died Thursday, (March 10, 2011) at McLean Health Center in Simsbury. He was born February 4, 1920 in Bristol, RI, son of the late James E. and Rose (Brown) Conley and had lived in Simsbury for many years prior to moving to Granby. He was a veteran of World War II having served as an Officer in the U.S. Army Air Corp. Mr. Conley's career in the dairy business spanned almost fifty years with Sealtest Foods, where he was general manager in Hartford and then Chief Executive Officer for New England Dairies until his retirement in 1989. After retirement, he enjoyed his duties as Chairman of the Board for New England Dairies, spending time with his family, traveling, reading and gardening at home during his retirement years. He is survived by his two sons, James E. Conley, III and his partner, Karen Burnham, of North Granby and John W. Conley and his wife, Jane, of Granby; three daughters, Ellen Antonellis and her husband, Gerard, of Middleton, MA, Joan Knurek and her husband, Robert, of South Windsor and Maryanne Strindberg and her husband, Aaron, of West Granby; 11 grandchildren: Suzanne, Jay, Shannon, Courtney, Dan, Leighton, Emily, James, Abby, Caitlin and Kevin; six great grandchildren: Michael, Andrew, Amanda, Sofie, Gabriella and Adriana; a very special friend, Helen Mangiagli; a brother, William Conley and his wife, Pat, of Bristol, RI and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of McLean Health Center for all their care and support. There are no calling hours. Private graveside service and burial with military honors will be in Simsbury Cemetery. Obituaries: November 6, 2013   
William F. Conley, age 91 of 52 Ridge Road, Bristol, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at Rhode Island Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Black) Conley, his wife of 64 years. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, he was a son of the late James E. and Rose (Brown) Conley. He was a watch engineer for the Narragansett Electric Company in Providence for 40 years, retiring a number of years ago. He was a Ccorporal in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater, participating in battles in Northern Solomons at Bougainville, Guam, Marianas Islands and Iwo Jima, Volcano Islands. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church and a life member of the Bristol County Lodge of Elks, the American Legion, and the Bristol Highland Beach Association. An avid sportsman, he loved spending time hunting and fishing at his camp in Maine for many years. Bill had a great love of history, he had a remarkable memory for details and loved to share his knowledge of growing up in Bristol, and his experiences in the marines in the Pacific during World War II and the outdoors. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, William F. Conley, Jr. and his wife, Anna, Thomas M. Conley, all of Bristol, Jayne E. Jamiel and her husband Francis of Warren and Patricia A. Lamb of Kennebunk, Maine; and seven grandchildren, Rebecca J. Harden, Michaella F. Dziedzic, Elizabeth F., Alexandra F and Victoria F. Jamiel, Robert J. and Catherine M. Conley. He was preceded in death by a brother, James E. Conley, Jr, and seven sisters, Rose, Helen and Mary Conley, Dorothy Nissen, Elizabeth Dodge, Nellie Gray, and Esther Carlage. His funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013 at the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Wood St. Burial with full military honors will be in the North Burial Ground on Hope Street. Visiting hours will be form 4 - 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013. Mother of Local Resident Dies In Bristol, R.I.
Mrs. Rose Conley, Burton street, Bristol, R.I., mother of Mrs. Hans Nissen, Manners avenue, died yesterday at her home after a long illness.
She is survived by five other children, Mrs. Paul Dodge, South Carolina; Mrs. Frederick Carlage, Putnam; Mrs. Herbert Gray, James Conley, and William Conley, all of Bristol, R.I.
Funeral services will be held Friday from the Connery Funeral Home, Burton street, Bristol, R.I. Burial will be in that city.
