Worcester Telegram & Gazette (MA) - Friday, April 7, 1989GORDON K. FIFE JR., 57HOLTSVILLE, Long Island, N.Y. - Gordon K. "Ken" Fife Jr., 57, of 5 Division St., formerly of Worcester, Mass., died March 21 in Holtsville Hospital after he was stricken ill at his home.  He leaves his wife, Ann (Rousseau) Fife;a son John  Fife of Middletown;three brothers, Lloyd A. Fife of Princeton, Mass., Stanley B.  Fife of Rutland, Mass., and Raymond B.  Fife of Worcester; a sister, Shirley G. Erickson of Worcester; and a grandson. He was born in Worcester, son of Gordon K. and Florence G. (Burgess) Fife, and lived here 36 years on Long Island, including Queens and Holtsville. Mr. Fife was an administrator for the Federal Aviation Administration  at MacArthur Airport in Islip, Long Island, where he worked for 25 years, retiring in 1982. He began his career as an air-traffic controller and rose through the ranks. After he retired, he was an instructor for seven years at the FAA's Regional Traffic Control Center at MacArthur Airport. Mr. Fife graduated from North High School in Worcester. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, serving in Iceland. He took courses in air-traffic control while in the Air Force. Funeral services were held March 24 in Joseph P. Spadaro & Son Funeral Home, Ronkonkoma. Burial was in Calverton National Cemetery, Long Island. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date in Holtsville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 23 Midstate Drive, Auburn, Mass. 01501.

Fife, 66, of 288 Brook Station Road, died Friday, Aug. 9, in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, after being stricken ill at home. He leaves his wife of 46 years, Phyllis-Jane (Clark) Fife; a son, Larry A. Fife of Princeton; a daughter, Laura Lee Bellrose of Barre; two brothers, Raymond and Stanley Fife, both of Rutland; a sister, Shirley Erickson of Worcester; five grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Two brothers, George and Kenneth Fife, and a sister, Madeline Fife, predeceased him. He was born and raised in Worcester, son of Gordon K and Florence (Burgess) Fife, and lived 46 years in Princeton. He served in the Army. Mr. Fife was a self-employed contractor and worked more than 10 years for Holebrook Drop Forge Co. in Worcester. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Republican Committee in Princeton. He enjoyed singing and sang at various events at the Worcester Auditorium.The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, in Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden (www.milesfuneralhome.com). Worcester Telegram & Gazette (MA) - Sunday, March 29, 2009  WORCESTER  Shirley G. (Fife) Erickson has crossed over onto her new journey March 26, 2009. Shirley passed peacefully in her sleep without illness and after having a really good day. Shirley was a friend to many and loved to share one of her life's favorite ambitions, singing. She sang (accompanied usually by her late of 54 years husband, Charles A. Erickson) at many nursing homes and parties and weddings. Shirley's passions were music, being a good mother, taking care of people through prayer, and earlier in life modeling school. Shirley was a member for many years at Greendale People's Church, sang in the choir, a member of the Proto Club and Couple's Club. Her concern for other people's well-being and safety was handled through deep, daily concentrated practice of prayer. In this way many friends and family were helped through their illnesses and trouble moments. Shirley graduated from the John Robert Powers School of Modeling in Worcester, and, the Worcester School of Performing Arts for voice and singing. Shirley is the mother of two daughters whom she loves very much, Kathleen J. Erickson-Nord and her husband Dennis R. Nord of West Virginia, and Dianne S. (Erickson) White and her husband Jeff White of Worcester. Shirley grew up in Worcester County, was the oldest of seven children of Florence Burgess(Fife) formerly from Maine and Gordon K. Fife of Worcester. Shirley's brothers (deceased) G. Kenneth Fife of Long Island, NY, George A. Fife formerly of Worcester, Lloyd A. Fife formerly of Princeton, Madeline F. Fife formerly of Worcester and Princeton. She leaves Stanley B. Fife and Raymond B. Fife both of Rutland and many nieces, nephews and great cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 30th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. The funeral service for Shirley will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in Greendale People's Church, Worcester. Burial will follow in All Faith's Cemetery, Worcester. Erickson, 76, of 923 West Boylston St., Greendale, born June 2, 1927 in Worcester crossed over from heart complications in his home on January 8, 2004. He was the youngest and only living son of Adolf W. and Hulda (Erickson) Erickson, both born in Sweden, and made their home in America on Belmont Hill in Worcester for many years. He leaves his wife of 54 years, Shirley G. (Fife) Erickson; two daughters, Kathleen J. Erickson-Nord and her husband, Dennis R. Nord of Coventry, CT, and Dianne S. White and her husband, Jeff P. White of West Boylston; four grand-kitties, Shelburne, Mabellene, Peaches and Pixie; a sister, Elsa Knight of Charlton, MA. Two sisters, Agnes Cooper of Clinton, and Doris Erickson of Worcester predeceased her. Charles has a celebrated history of a fine musician, playing piano for performances all over Worcester and central Worcester County for many years. He accompanied (piano) his singer wife, Shirley, as a musical couple giving performances in halls, nursing homes, weddings and various social affairs for the past twenty years.  He was in the military as a decorated W.W. II Navy Veteran with the personal honorable recognition by President Harry Truman. He is a graduate of Commerce High School in Worcester where he finished early with honors. Following this, he attended and graduated from the Gavianni School of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Charles' life revolved around family and hundreds of friends, which so many of his close friends who read this, probably either know this or someone who does. He was that popular! Charlie, as everyone is used to calling him, was a friend to many people that were needy, and was a lover of animals. He was also a great "pet" sitter. His life was constructed around helping others and being the "delivery person" when crisis struck. "Charlie" always came through for others! He was a sportsman! He loved baseball and basketball. He actually played horseshoes for many years, and became a championship horseshoe player. Charles was a tough one to beat, only a few years ago bowling was an active sport for him. He played with many leagues and won prizes galore. He played for the Printers Craft League for many years. Charles spent most of his working life in the printing industry working as a pressman and then a cutter for Washburn Press, Mercantile Press and Laviegne Press. In his earlier working life, he also worked for Norton Company in the early 1950s on various time related projects. He has been a member of Greendale People's Church for over four decades. He sang in the choir, played piano, and was in many functions with the groups. He has been an active member of the Couples Club with his wife Shirley. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6907 in Massachusetts. He leaves only in body, but holds a spiritual legacy for all to enjoy for many years to come. The funeral service for Mr. Erickson will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 17 in the Greendale People's Church, 25 Francis St., Worcester. Burial will follow in All Faiths Saint's Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, January 14 in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Mr. Mott was a self-employed auto mechanic for many years in Worcester and Melbourne. He graduated from a Worcester high school. Mr. Mott was an Army veteran. He leaves his wife, Betty (Jacobsson) Mott; a son, Christopher Mott of Holden; three brothers, Richard G. Mott of Shrewsbury, James A. Mott of Worcester and Kenneth A. Mott of Melbourne. He was born in Worcester, son of Kenneth and Dorothy (Fife) Mott, and lived there until moving to Melbourne seven years ago. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Greendale Peoples Church, 25 Francis St. Cremation was in Florida. Burial will be at a later date in Hope Cemetery. Mott, 60, of 67 Lear St. North, a Worcester County deputy sheriff, died yesterday in his home after a long illness. He leaves his wife, Carolyn M. (Calligan) Mott; five sons, Richard G. Mott Jr. in Hawaii, Robert and Timothy J. Mott, both in New Jersey, William Mott of Holden and Edward M. Mott of Shrewsbury; six daughters, Linda Murphy of Barre, Wendy DiPilato of Worcester, Lucynda Mott of Shrewsbury, Tina Mott in Pennsylvania, Antoinette Cantillon of Worcester and Karen Murphy of West Boylston; two brothers, James Mott of Worcester and Kenneth Mott of Melbourne, Fla.; 26 grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Kenneth and Dorothy (Fife) Mott, and lived here many years. Mr. Mott was a deputy sheriff with the Worcester County Sheriffs Department. He previously owned and operated the Shrewsbury-West Boylston Taxi Co. for 10 years, and was a self-employed auto-body mechanic. He attended the Greendale Peoples Church. He was a member of the West Boylston Lodge of Masons, the West Boylston Lions Club and the Worcester County Deputies Association. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Greendale Peoples Church, 25 Francis Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at M.A. Simard & Son Funeral Home, 14 Walker St., Leominster. Born December 23, 1921 in Worcester, Massachusetts, Austin was the son of the late Gordon B. and Pearl Myers Fife. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 392, Omar Shrine, American Legion Post 186, Scottish Rite, and Myrtle Beach Shrine Club. Austin is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Dorothy Marie Hashem Fife of Little River; and several loving nieces and nephews, including Shirley Ericson of Worcester, Mass., Robert (Sandra) Fife of Cape Cod, Mass,, Viola (Andrew) Wardell of Worcester, Mass., and Wayne (Marcia) Cederlund of Pa.
