Doing some searching, I’m of the same mindset with Catherine and she would be a “cousin” to the White children not a step-sister.

If she were Hattie’s, Hattie wouldn’t use the name “Catherine” twice in naming her children to my way of thinking.

OBITUARY: Mrs. Henry White
Bras d'Or - Mrs. Henry White, 78, of Bras d'Or, died Saturday in Harbor View
Hospital, Sydney Mines.
Born in Bras d'Or, she was the former Harriet Laffin, daughter of the late
Mr. and Mrs. William Laffin. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church.
She is survived by six daughters, Mary (Mrs. Avery Blinkhorn[sic]),
Kentville; Harriet (Mrs. Aubrey Saunders), Unionville, Ont.; Catherine (Mrs.
Gilbert Luker), Bras d'Or; Thelma (Clarence Harrietha), Winnipeg; Frances
(Mrs. Roy Barton), Petawawa, Ont.; Catherine (Mrs. George Mansfield),
Florence; five sons, William, Henry, James, all of Bras d'Or, Gordon;
Atikokan, Ont.; John, Gagetown; four sisters, (Little Pond); Bridget (Mrs.
Joseph Mitchelltis), Lillian (Mrs. Joseph Hawkins), both of Florence; Mrs.
Esther Tobin, Sydney Mines; a brother, Daniel, Bras d'Or; 38 grandchildren;
12 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband; a son, George.
The body is at Frances Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Funeral service will be
held Tuesday at 2 p.m., in St. Joseph's Church, Bras d'Or. Burial will be in
the parish cemetery.
