GILBERT, Edna L. - 65, Athol, Cumberland Co., died October 6, 1995, as the result of a motor vehicle accident in Wentworth. Born in Athol, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Edith (Dowe) Dodsworth. She was a member of Southampton United Church; was an active member of her community and a member of Red Cross Society. Surviving are her husband, Elmer; daughters, Evelyn (Mrs. John Bradford), East Amherst; Edith (Mrs. George Hackett), Bedford; sisters, June (Mrs. Max Rose), Dedham, Mass.; Marion (Mrs. Bill Stobbs), Woodstock, Ont.; Dorothy (Mrs. Larry Pilon), Bouctouche, N.B.; brothers, Foster, Ottawa, Ont.; Lester, Merle, Garfield, P.E.I.; Bob, Branchton, Ont.; Joe, Rothesay, N.B.; four grandchildren. She was predeceased by brothers, Earl, Arnold. Funeral 2 p.m. today in Cumberland Memorial Chapel, Amherst, Rev. Ewen Moase officiating. Burial to follow in Athol Cemetery. Donations to Cumberland Early Intervention Program. Arrangements under the direction of Furlong's Funeral Home, Amherst.

G. Elmer Gilbert

1921-2015

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of George Elmer Gilbert, age
93, of Athol, NS.  Elmer passed away at the Cumberland Regional Health Care
Centre on Sunday, March 1, 2015, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Oxford, NS, he was a son of the late Ernest and Georgie (Wood)
Gilbert.

Elmer was a hardworking, quiet man.  His wife, daughters and grandchildren
were his pride and joy.  He was a devoted son, brother and favourite uncle
to many.  A generous member of the community, he was always first to assist
others.  He was a jack-of-all-trades who loved to work with his hands. 
Elmer¹s work life began as a lumberman and later he worked 34 years as a
sectionman for CNR.  He was a dedicated member of the Southampton United
Church.

He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Evelyn Bradford (John), East
Amherst, NS, Edith Gilbert (George) Bedford, NS; grandchildren, Chris,
Steve, Amy (Albert) and Kyle (Melissa); sister Lois Moore, Parrsboro, NS and
many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, the former Edna
Dodsworth in 1995; brothers Lawson, Vaughan, Murray and sister Ethel
Gilbert.Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, 70
Church Street, Amherst, NS (902-667-8777), where visiting hours will take
place on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2015 from 7 to 9 pm.  The funeral service will
take place at Furlong-Jones Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 4th, 2015 at
11:00 am, Rev. Elizabeth Davies officiating.  Burial will take place in the
Athol Cemetery in the spring.

Those wishing to make a donation in Elmer¹s memory may do so to the Bridge
Adult Service Centre or the Athol Cemetery.
