Albert and Bernice’s son-in-law:

Bruce DeVenne
March 31, 1946 - August 27, 2011

Obituary

DeVenne, Bruce Gordon (1946-2011), of Lower Sackville - It is with great sadness, the family announces his death in Halifax on 27 Aug 2011.  Born in Saint John, NB, Bruce was the son of Doris DeVenne (Cave) and the late Gordon DeVenne.  He spent most of his life as a resident of Halifax.  Bruce worked as a refrigeration technician in HMC MC Dockyard and then taught briefly at NSIT.  He also operated a number of businesses in HRM over the past years, including Dance Sounds DJ Services, where he shared his love of music with others, especially 50-60s Tunes.  Bruce was an activist for most of his life and pursued issues affecting the everyday citizen with great enthusiasm.  He was most proud of his role in the struggle to gain adequate care and compensation for the victims of the notorious Tainted Blood Scandal.  Unfortunately, Bruce’s untimely passing was the result of cancer of the liver that developed from the hepatitis C he contracted as a result of a tainted blood transfusion.  Bruce’s true passion was his family.  He loved to regale all with tales of his childhood and the fond memories he valued of life in the old city of Halifax (before amalgamation to HRM).  He is survived by his wife Ruth (Davis); son Troy (Tanya Diggins) and his beloved grandchildren Liam and Ashlynn.   He is also survived by his mother, Doris (Cave) DeVenne, Halifax; brother David, Mahone Bay; sister Debra Brinen (Larry), East Uniacke; John (Chiyo), Middle Sackville. Besides his father, Bruce was predeceased by sister Adelle Coffin. Farewell husband, father, grandfather, son, brother - you will be in our hearts always.  The remains are resting at Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville, NS, where a wake will be held on Wednesday 31 Aug 2011 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.  Following cremation, a funeral mass will be held at St. John Vianney, 4 Beaver Bank Road, Lower Sackville at 10:00 AM, Saturday 3 Sept 2011.  The family would like to meet with friends and relatives following the mass, location will be announced at the Funeral.  Bruce asked that we not mourn his passing but that we gather to celebrate his life in good cheer.   The Family would like to express their deepest thanks and appreciation for the care, compassion and attention shown to Bruce during the last months of his life by the Doctors, Nurses, and Staff of floor 8A of the Victoria General Hospital.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Cdn Hepatitis C Assoc’n, or a donation to the QE II Foundation in Bruce’s name for the purchase of a patient lift for floor 8A of the centennial building.

Can anyone on the list confirm which children are from m/1 and/or m/2?

I had 3 unnamed daughters plus John A. Davis (1953-1970) but he has 4
daughters, and 2 extra sons although the "Brown" son might be a step-son.

Thanks in advance.
