I thought there might be a Smith family connection somewhere whereby the Ripley’s would take in Celia Elizabeth Smith.

I haven’t found a death record for Cecil Lester Smith or Elizabeth Mary Jenks after 1916 to indicate a reason their daughter was raised by relatives.

Celia Sarah (Smith) Ripley appears to be d/o John Smith and Sarah Read from her death record. Her birth year appears to be off by 10 years though.
