Obit: BOOM, Anna Everdina [nee HILHORST]

Anna E. Boom

1928-2015

It is with sadness that we must announce the peaceful passing of Anna
Everdina Boom, age 86, of Amherst.  Anna passed away at Gables Lodge, with
her loving husband by her side.

Born in Holland, she was a daughter of the late Gysbertus and Martha (Van
Hofslot) Hilhorst.

Anna was a member of Nativity of our Lady Roman Catholic Church and Holy
Family Parish, as well as an active member of the CWL in both parishes. 
Anna and her husband spent much time square dancing, bowling and they loved
to play cards and garden.  Anna loved to knit and spent much time knitting
items for family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, John W. Boom, Amherst; 3 sons,
Adrian (Theresa), St. Catharines, ON, Michael, Riverview, NB, Louis
(Cheryl), Edmonton, AB; 3 daughters, Marion Boom, Ottawa, Elizabeth (Casey)
Evers, Moncton, NB, Jeannette (Allen) McDonald, Malagash, NS, 7
grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 2 brothers Antonius, Gijsbertus
(Alie), 3 sisters, Petronella "Nellie" Horst, Martha Visser,  Cornelia Kok.
 
She was predeceased by brothers Gerardus, Wilhelmus, and sisters, Everdina,
Antonia, Aleida "Alie", and Bertha "Betsy".

Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church
St. Amherst, NS (902-667-8777).  Funeral Mass will be celebrated from Holy
Family Parish Church, Amherst on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 10 am, Father
Vernon Driscoll officiating. Burial will take place in the Saint Charles
Nativity Cemetery in the spring.

Those wishing to make a donation in Anna's memory may do so to the Gables
Lodge or the NS Alzheimer's Association.
