I should have added: PJ is Patricia Joann

I believe this is your answer:

Canning, Lloyd K. “Joe” - 81, of Parrsboro, and formerly of Two Islands passed away peacefully on Friday, March 1, 2013 at the Chignecto Manor, Advocate Harbour. Born in Parrsboro, he was a son of the late Wilbert and Jeanette (Wasson) Canning. Joe worked as a carpenter in Peterborough, Ont. for many years. Upon his return to Nova Scotia, he worked in road construction and on the government marshlands until his retirement. He was a member of the Parrsboro Golf Club where he enjoyed playing golf and having snacks at the clubhouse, taking long drives and visits with family and friends. He is survived by his companion, Joan Beaman, Parrsboro (and her sons, Larry and David Beaman); a daughter, Patricia “P.J.” Ripley (David), Lakelands; a sister, Peggy O’Para (Richard), Niagara Falls, Ont.; a brother, Gerald, Kelowna, B.C.; a sister-in-law, Joyce Canning, Parrsboro; special granddaughters, Megan and Anna; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Murray; sister-in-law, Audrey. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. on Monday [March 4, 2013] at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday [March 5, 2013], Rev. Tory Byrne officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia or to a charity of choice.

Eric:

Thanks. My mother, sisters and I all raked blueberries for Vernie Bennett at one time or another.

Vernon only claims Sherry and Shelly as daughters.

Elizabeth claims Sherry and Shelly plus P.J. (Patricia Joanne)

It’s known Vernon and Elizabeth were separated/divorced plus Elizabeth’s obit refers to being a “single mother”

I presently have Elizabeth with a unknown partner for Patricia Joanne until I learn more.

P.J. therefore may possibly not be a Bennett - Morris descendent.

Edgar Henry Patterson is believed to have lived with “Betty” for a while after his m/1 ended and this is where “her chosen son” Dwight Patterson comes from.

PATTERSON, Edgar Henry "Pat" "Ed"
PATTERSON, Edgar Henry "Pat" "Ed" - 75, Lower Sackville, passed away August 26, 2007, in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Parrsboro, he was the son of the late Alice Dorothy Patterson. He served in the Korean Conflict from April 1952 to May 1954 as a forward observation wireless operator and later transferred to the Canadian Provost Corps (Military Police), with which he served three tours of duty in Germany, one in Cyprus and one in the Northwest Territories. He retired from the military in 1974 and went on to serve on the Charlottetown and Wolfville police forces, and then on to become one of the last wooden boat builders in the Parrsboro area. He was a wonderful and caring father and grandfather, and a dependable friend, always willing to offer a helping hand. He had a quick wit and an uncanny ability with the written word which was evident in his wonderful letters, stories and, when he felt the need, his letters to the editor. He is survived by his daughter, Devon (David) Rockwell; grandchildren, Christine, Monique and Taylor Rockwell, all of Lower Sackville; son, Dwight Patterson, Borden, Ont.; grandsons, Eric and Brett Patterson; great-grandson, Cayden Patterson, all of Edmonton, Alta.; Christel Patterson, Halifax; Erna Sollows, Dartmouth; sister, Margaret (Graydon) Nickerson, Parrsboro; foster brothers and sisters, Robey, Lorne, Bruce, Ada and Ruth Hatfield. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Cole Harbour Funeral Home and Crematorium. No service by request of the deceased. Donations may be made to the Lillian Allbon Animal Shelter, Amherst, in honour of Dad's true friend and companion of 14 years, "Teddy". He enjoyed every minute of it.

Note: Christel Patterson is believed to be his ex-wife from Germany whom he married while stationed overseas.

Elizabeth H. Bennett
"Betty"
1934 - 2015

Bennett, Elizabeth H. ³Betty² - It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness we
announce the peaceful goodbye of our mother, Elizabeth ³Betty² (MacAloney)
Bennett on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 following a long and brave battle
with Alzheimer¹s. Born in Fraserville in 1934, she was the daughter of
Charles ³Edward² and Sophia ³Madeline² (Crossman) MacAloney. Mom was a
devoted mother, grandmother, and caregiver to many, always an open door to
whoever needed a friend, meal or place to stay. Her greatest joy was
spending time with her family and the special bond we shared. She was a
strong and independent woman with a great sense of humor. She loved tending
to us all as a single mother, working full time, caring for her parents and
helping both her friends and our friends. She began her working days as a
teacher in a one-room schoolhouse, moved to Parrsboro and worked various
jobs until becoming a hairdresser which she loved for over 30 years, often
going above and beyond the hairdo, providing lunches and snacks, running
errands, giving drives, and even taking her cape and rollers on house calls
for special occasions or when people could not come to her. Mom enjoyed
doing the crossword puzzle and cryptoquote every morning. She loved to bake
and cook, quilt, sew, and knit, do jigsaw puzzles, go for drives, watch PBS
concerts, Blue Jays in the summer, Leafs in the winter, and sitting on her
verandah looking out at the beautiful view of the water, surrounded by
family and her ³grandkitties and granddoggies.² Mom will be missed by
daughters, Sherry Bennett, Parrsboro; Shelley Bennett-Chambers (John),
Stratford, PEI; and PJ Ripley (David), Lakelands; chosen son, Dwight
Patterson (Sheri), Parrsboro; grandchildren, Jillian and Drew Chambers,
Megan and Anna Ripley; Dwight¹s children, Eric and Brett Patterson, and his
grandchildren Cayden and Kate Patterson; brothers, Cleyle (Lottie) MacAloney
and Bernell (Carolyn) MacAloney; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Cremation
has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
The family has requested donations be made to Parrsboro¹s Trap Neuter
Release Program (cheques payable to Elizabeth MacAulay, 8906 Hwy 209, RR3
Parrsboro, NS B0M 1S0, reference/memo Parrsboro TNR Program).

³Arms around our ailing mother, we were bred and buttered²
