Thank you Dave for posting the obituary for Ona Maude Spicer (a Mattinson descendant).  The obituary that you posted revealed that her daughter (Mary-Lee) had also passed and I was able to get her obituary too.  So a double thank you.

Mary Lee O'Dell - 55, of Centreville, Kings County, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014 in the VG Site, QEII Hospital, Halifax.  Born in Wolfville, Kings County, she was a daughter of Ona (Bigelow) Spicer, Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville and the late Lawrence "Mike" Spicer.  She had worked for many years at both Towers and Zellers Department Stores, New Minas and later at Foote's Farm Market, Centreville.  She had been a girl guide leader in Centreville and had taught Sunday School at the Centreville Baptist Church.  Mary was a great cook and enjoyed crafts, including knitting and sewing.  She is survived by her husband, Corey; two daughters, Christina and Catherine, both of Kentville; a son, Corey, Wolfville; a chosen granddaughter, Ella May Cashin.  She was predeceased by a sister, Lydia O'Dell.  Cremation has taken place.  There will be no visitation, by family request.  The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday May 9, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Chaplain Reverend Mary Anne Doherty-Fleet officiating.  Burial will take place in the Habitant Cemetery, Kings County.  Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Kidney Foundation.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.

O'DELL, Lydia Mae - 33, 9 Porters Ave., Hantsport, Hants County, died May 26, 1992 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor.  Born in Wolfville, Kings County, she was a daughter of Ona (Bigelow) Spicer, Canning, Kings County, and the late Laurence Spicer.  She was employed at Hantsport IGA; member of Hantsport Baptist Church; Kings Daughter Group; former Sunday school teacher; and former leader of Girl Guides of Canada, Hantsport.  She is survived by her husband, Carmen; twin sister, Mary-Lee (Mrs. Corey O'Dell), Centreville, Kings County; four nieces and nephews.  The body is in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home.  No visitation by request.  Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday in Hantsport Baptist Church, Rev. David Shaw officiating.  Burial will be in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport.  Family flowers only.  Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.

Ona Maude Spicer

Ona Maude Spicer ­ 90, of Canning, Kings County, passed away Monday,
February 2, 2015 in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. Born in
Canning, she was a daughter of the late John William and Mary Ellen
(Newcombe) Bigelow. She worked at the Canning Post Office for a number of
years. She was a member of the Canning Baptist Church. She enjoyed skating,
baking, knitting, crocheting and walking. She is survived by a son-in-law,
Corey O¹Dell, Centreville; grandchildren, Christina, Catherine and Corey;
sister-in-law, Arlie Bigelow, Kentville; several nieces and nephews. She was
predeceased by her husband, Laurence "Mike"; twin daughters, Lydia Mae
O'Dell and Mary Lee O¹Dell; three brothers, Burdett and his wife, Lillian,
Burrill "Sam" and his wife, Valerie and Dwight "Skip". Visitation will be
held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.
Saturday, February 7, 2015 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville.
Burial will take place at a later date in the Habitant Cemetery, Kings
County. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to
the Alzheimer Society, the Canning Baptist Church or Evergreen Home for

OBITUARY - Spicer, Lawrence Edward (Mike) - 73, Canning, died Wednesday in
Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital, Kentville. Born in Canning, he was a son
of the late Lee and Lydia (Bennett) Spicer. He was a member of Canning
United Baptist Church and for 35 years, of Canning Volunteer Fire
Department. He had been employed with Spicer Fina Service Station for 23
years. He also worked with N.S. Liquor Commission in Kentville, retiring in
1980. He is survived by his wife, the former Ona Bigelow; two daughters,
Mary Lee (Mrs. Corey O'Dell), Centerville; Lydia (Mrs. Carmen O'Dell),
Hantsport; and a grandson. He was predeceased by three sisters, Marian, Vera
and Helen; and a brother, Ralph. The body is in W.C. Hiltz Funeral Home,
Canning. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday in Canning United Baptist
Church, Rev, Neil Price officiating, assisted by Licentiate Joyce Churchill.
Burial will be in Habitant Cemetery, Habitant, Kings County. Donations may
be made to the Nova Scotia Kidney Foundation or any charity.
