Simmons, James Leonard – 61, of West Brook, Cumberland County passed away Thursday, June 17, 2004 at Moncton City Hospital. Born in Springhill, he was the son of Phyllis (Gilbert) Simmons, Amherst and the late James “Tody” Simmons. Besides his mother, he is survived by daughters, Linda Cormier (Doug), Truro; Teresa Simmons, Ontario; a son, James, Parrsboro Roads; sisters, Irene Lindstrom (Nels), Burns Lake, B.C.; Wendy Gogan (John), Springhill; Paula Streatch (Robert), Amherst; brothers, Wayne Simmons (Marjorie), Springhill Junction; Glen Simmons (Marie), West Brook; Danny Simmons (Kim), Amherst; Kenneth “Bucky” Pettigrew (Margaret), Amherst; Dave Pettigrew (Shelley), Amherst; Dellas Pettigrew (Carrie), West Brook; Cyril Pettigrew (Patty), Etobicoke, Ont.; Dale Pettigrew (Lori), Burns Lake, B.C.; Peter Pettigrew (Jacklyn), Prince George, B.C.; Paul Pettigrew, B.C.; 2 granddaughters, Ashley and Emma Cormier; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Diane Dunlop; a brother, Charles Simmons. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today (Friday) at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Rev. Danny Compton officiating. Burial in the West Brook Cemetery. Charles Edward 'Eddie' Simmons

SIMMONS - Charles Edward 'Eddie' aged 59 years of Station Road, Springhill Junction, Cumb. Co., N. S., passed away on Monday, November 10, 2003 in the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Nappan, Cumb. Co., N. S. Born in Springhill, he was a son of Phyllis Gilbert Simmons of Amherst and the Late James Leonard 'Tody' Simmons.

He worked in the lumbering industry for over 30 years; was an adherent to St. Andrews Wesley United Church, Springhill and he enjoyed carpentry, the outdoors, fishing and working on older vehicles.

He is survived by sons, Mark (Heather) of Parrsboro; Charles of Southampton; George (Crystal) of Maccan; Paul (Stephanie) and Vincent (Katrina) all of Amherst and Jonathon of Springhill Junction; daughters, Anita, Patricia (Trevor) and Harriett all of Springhill; brothers, James Leonard Simmons, Danny (Kim) Simmons; Kenneth (Margaret) Pettigrew, Frederick (Shelley) Pettigrew all of Amherst; Douglas Wayne (Marjorie) Simmons of Springhill Junction; Glendon (Marie) Simmons, Dellas (Carrie) Pettigrew all of West Brook; Peter (Jacqueline) Pettigrew, Paul Pettigrew, Dale (Lori) Pettigrew all of B. C.; Cyril (Patty) Pettigrew of Toronto; sisters, Wendy (John) Pettigrew of Springhill; Paula (Robert) Streatch of Amherst and Irene (Nels) Lindstrom of B.C.; fifteen grandchildren; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Visitations will be held 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 today (Tuesday) in A. H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill, from where the Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 12, 2003 with The Reverend Danny Compton officiating. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill, N. S.

Douglas Wayne Simmons, 69, of Springhill Jct., passed away Saturday, January
31, 2015 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving
family. Doug was born on January 25, 1946 to the late James (Tody) Simmons
and Phyllis (Gilbert) Simmons of Amherst.

In Doug's younger years, he enjoyed truck driving in western Canada. In his
later years, he showed great love and compassion while caring for several
elderly people in the Amherst area. For the past 14 years, he enjoyed
driving an elderly couple to Florida. He loved and enjoyed every minute he
spent with family and friends.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife and bestfriend of 31 years,
Marjorie (Grant) Simmons, his children, Jody (Shannon), London, Ont.;
Rhonda, Cambridge, Ont.; Lisa (Mark), Brooks, Alta.; Monica (Mike),
Kitchener, Ont.; Douglas (Alisha), Elora, Ont.; his step-children, Jamie
(Cathy), Amherst; Patricia (Jerry), Springhill, NS.; and Anita (Rick),
Amherst, NS.; as well as 12 grandsons, 21 granddaughters and 8 great
grandchildren.

Doug was predeceased by a son Kirk and 3 grandchildren; Christopher, Brady
and Faith.

Doug is survived by 9 brothers, Glen (Patsy) of Parrsboro; Dellas (Katrina)
, Danny (Kim), Kenneth (Margaret), Paul (Jackie), Cyril (Cindy), all of
Amherst, Dave (Shelley) of Truemanville; Dale (Lori); Peter of Burns Lake,
BC, 3 sisters, Paula of Amherst; Wendy (Frank), Chapman Settlement and Irene
(Nels) of Burns Lake, BC. Doug was also predeceased by 2 brothers, James and
Charles.

Doug is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great
nieces, great nephews, great great nieces and great great nephews.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of A.H. Brown Funeral Service,
5 McFarlane Street, Springhill (902-597-2361) from where visitation will be
held on Monday, February 2, 2015, from 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be
held at 2 pm on Tuesday from the funeral home.

Donations in memory of Doug may be made to a charity of one's choice.
