SPENCER, Halley Calvin--76, 1478 Elizabeth Ave.,Kingston, passed away Wednesday, August 11,1999, at home. Born in Windsor, Hants Co., he was the youngest son of the late John and Hallie (Dickie) Spencer. He was in the Merchant Navy, was an expert hair stylist and a member of the RCAF Association, 107 Valley Wing. Surviving are his wife, Mary Dorrine; Son, Ray and his wife Lorraine,Greenwood; sister, Jean Allen,Peggys Cove; gfrandchildren, John and Trina; stepgrandchildren, Robert,London,Ont.,;Corrine,Lakesidde,Halifax Co,; Angela,Eastern Passage; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers;five sisters. Visitation will be today, August 12 from 2-4, 7-9 pm in Lindsays Funeral Home,Windsor 194 King St. Funeral service will be Friday, August 13, at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel, Rev E E Hill officiating. Burial to follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. Donations to the VON Homde Care.
 
 
 

SPENCER, Donald Russell---77, Windsor,Hants County, died September 15,1993, in Hants Community Hospital,Windsor. Born in Windsor, he was a son of the late John and Hallie (Dickie) Spencer.

He was a charter member of Glad Tidings Tabernacle, Windsor, where he was a board member, Sunday school teacher, choir member and soloist. He was a service officer of Hants County Branch 9, Royal Canadian Legion,Windsor and served during the Second World War as a sergeant in the dental corps. He is survived by his wife, the former Beryl Marie Balsor; two daughters, Carol Marie (Mrs Donald Boyd),St Catherine's, Ont,; Margaret Anne (Mrs Michael Aud), Lower Sackville;seven grandchildren; eight great grdren; sister, Jean (Mrs W Allen),Dartmouth; brother,Halley, Kingston. He was predeceased by four infant children; four sisters, Flora,Olive, Aileen, Olga; three brothers, Lawson,Harry,Claude. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 pm today and Friday in Lohnes Funeral Home,Windsor, where a legion service will be 7-pmFriday. Funeral will be 2pm Saturday in Glad Tidings Tabernacle, Rev Carman Crocker officiating, assisted by Rev Michael Aud and Rev David Boyd. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Glad Tidings Tabernacle Building Fund.

Spencer, Russell Carroll Spencer, and Lydia Isalena (Spencer) Manning, all
with Parrsboro connections.

Hallie Calvin Spencer and brother, Donald Russell Spencer's obits may
possibly be on the Herald Obit CD if anyone has them to share.

Charles Robert BALSOR (Hiram Guy, Hiram, Christopher, Christopher) "Charley"
was born 29 Nov 1892, aged 8, according to the 1901 census. He married Alena
(Lena) Marie HOLDEN born around 1896 in Windsor the daughter of John and
Annie (MURPHY) HOLDEN. Alena died 12 Aug 1981 aged 85 in Windsor and is
buried in Camp Hill Cemetery, Halifax. She was a member of Glad Tidings
Tabernacle Pentecostal Church in Windsor. In 1981 they had 16 grandchildren,
18 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Charles died in
1958.

Dykeland Lodge, Currie¹s Corner. Born in Windsor, he was a son of the late
John and Mary (Bishop) Spencer. He was a member of Pentecostal Glad Tidings
Tabernacle, Windsor. He was formerly an engineer with Nova Scotia Textile
Ltd. and an employee of Windsor Furniture Factory. Surviving are two
daughters, Jean (Mrs. Ronald Smith), Alberta, and Aileen (Mrs. Walter
Cochrane), Windsor; four sons, Harry, at home; Claude and Donald, both of
Windsor and Hallie, Stewiacke; a sister, Mrs. Manda Bailey, Chicago; three
brothers, Clarence, Trenton; Russell, Parrsboro; and Major, New Brunswick;
26 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and three
great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife the former Hallie
Marita Dickie. And by three daughters, Olga Marie, Olive Marie and Flora
Gerdina; four sisters and two brothers. The body is at the R.D. Lindsay
Funeral Home, Windsor. Funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday at
Pentecostal Glad Tidings Tabernacle, Windsor, with Rev. Steward Lewis and
Rev. Gordon O¹Coin officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery. In
lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Glad Tidings Tabernacle

WINDSOR- Mrs. John A Spencer, 91, Nesbitt St., Windsor died here Monday in
the Payzant Memorial Hospital. Born in Winchester, Mass., USA, the former
Hallie Marita Dickie, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Ellen
Dickie. She was a member of the Windsor Glad Tidings Tabernacle, the
church¹s Women¹s Missionary Council, a church choir member and was active in
the church¹s radio broadcasts. She was a past member of the United Church
choir, Windsor and was a 25 year member of the Philipha Class of the United
Church. Besides her husband, she is survived by four sons, Harry, at home,
Claude and Donald both of Windsor, Hallie, Stewiacke; two daughters, Jean
(Mrs. Ronald Smith) and Aileen (Mrs. Walter Cochrane), Windsor; a sister,
Claudia (Mrs. John Robinson), Winchester, Mass.; 26 grandchildren;16 great
grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by three
daughters, five sons, a sister and four brothers. The body is at the R.D.
Lindsay Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in
