Obit (1974) - Freda Wilson, w/o Guy Hennigar Parsons

Dave posted the 1984 obituary for Guy Hennigar Parsons of Port Greville.  Here is the 1974 obituary for his wife from the Dec. 6, 1974 Halifax Chronicle Herald:

PORT GREVILLE - Mrs. Guy H. Parsons, Port Greville, died Wednesday at home.  Born in Port Greville, she was the former Freda Rosmond Wilson, a daughter of the late Harman and Clara (Soley) Wilson.  She taught school in Port Greville and Halifax (Chebucto School).  Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Wilson, Norfolk, Va., Eric, Sydney; a sister, Vera (Mrs. Dara Cochrane), River Hebert; a brother, Wyman, Saint John, N.B.  The body is at Smith's Funeral Home, Parrsboro.  Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Fox River, Rev. Wilfred Wagner officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

GUY H. PARSONS Dies At Age 81
Port Greville - Guy H. Parsons, 81, of Port Greville died Monday in South
Cumberland Memorial Hospital.
Born in Port Greville, he was a son of the late Charles and Millie (Burns)
Parsons.
He was a graduate of Nova Scotia Normal College and Mount Allison
University. He taught school in Halifax for 37 years, first at the
Industrial School and then as vice-principal of Chebucto School. He later
served as principal of Morris Street School, Quinpool Road School and
Alexandria School. He was a major and commanding officer of the army cadets
and was also the hockey and soccer coach at each of these schools.
He was a board member of South Cumberland Memorial Hospital, a former
president of the Cumberland County Progressive Conservative Association and
past grand chancellor of the Maritime domain of the Knights of Pythias.
Surviving are two sons, Wilson, Chesapeake, Va.; Eric, Sydney; two sisters,
Rebecca (Mrs. Roy Burton), Port Greville, and Jean (Mrs. Hance Mosher),
Kentville; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Freda Wilson.
The body is in Smith's Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where a Knights of Pythias
memorial service will be 7:30 p.m. Friday. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday
in Trinity Anglican Church, Fox River, Rev. Whitney Trueman officiating,
with burial in the church cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to South Cumberland Memorial Hospital.
