Obituary for Keith David Graham
Keith David Graham, Jr., 83, of Bristol, died Monday (October 31, 2011) at Bristol Hospital following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Lois (Hayden) Graham. Dave was born in Bristol on 1928. He was a 1945 graduate of Bristol High School, where he was basketball captain, and Yale University, Class of 1949. Upon graduation, he taught briefly at the Cassidy School in Oklahoma City before serving in the Korean War, where he saw frontline action in the army infantry and rose to the rank of first lieutenant. After the war, Dave returned to Bristol, where he went to work in the insurance and real estate business with Peck, Barnard and Olmstead, and later with the Roland Dumont Agency. In 1953, he wed Lois Hayden, also of Bristol, to whom he would remain happily married, for 55 years until her death in 2008. Dave also became active in local boards and committees, including terms on the boards of Bristol Hospital, Bristol Library and Hartford Stage. He was a founding director of Tunxis Community College and was also active in AARP, Lifelong Learning and the Rotary Club. Dave was an excellent and enthusiastic tennis player, an expert bridge player and one of Yale's most loyal sons. He loved spending summer days at the family cottage in Quonochontaug, RI. When his grandchildren were young, there was nothing he enjoyed more than orchestrating Easter egg hunts in his yard, testing them in highly competitive card games, and gathering all of them for a ritual reading of "The Night Before Christmas." As his grandchildren grew older, Dave became a vocal, supportive fan at their various plays, recitals and athletic contests. He is survived by two daughters, Lynn Goldberg of Westport and Marcia Monagan of Middlebury; one son, Keith David Graham III of Berwyn, PA; and eight grandchildren. In recent years, he was fortunate enough to find affection and companionship with his lifelong friend Shirley Rose.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 5, at 1 p.m. at Bristol's First Congregational Church. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Bristol Public Library or Bristol Hospital. Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol is assisting the family. You mentioned that you were not 100% certain that the FindAGrave item was for our Keith David Graham. The following two items should help:

1) While FindAGrave does not list a birth date, the photo of the headstone clearly lists birth in 1899.

2) The Social Security Death Index lists:
Keith Graham, b Jun 5, 1899, d Feb 1976; Last res = BradfordWesterly, Washington Co., Rhode Island; SS # issued in Conn.

Because the SSDI birth date is identical to the 1901 census and Draft Registration card, I believe we're safe in assuming the burial is for our Cumberland County lad.
