Obit (1999) - Harleigh William Graham

I don't think the following obituary for Harleigh William Graham (s/o James Renwick Graham & Effie Vivian Allen) has been posted before.

GRAHAM, Harleigh William - 87, Amherst, formerly of Fox Point, Cumberland Co., passed away May 4, 1999, in Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst. Born September 6, 1911, in Fox Point, he was a son of the late James Renwick Graham and Effie Vivien (Allen) Graham. He was a member of the Supreme Lodge Knights of Pythias, Victoria Lodge 17, Port Greville, Cumberland Co., from which he received his 50-year Pythian Veteran Diploma in 1989. He was also a recipient of the 50-year Gold Pin and member of the Royal Canadian Legion, and was a veteran of the Second World War, serving overseas in Italy, France, Germany, Holland and the United Kingdom with the Canadian Army Medical Corps. He was employed in lumbering throughout Nova Scotia, and later with the Maritime Lumber Bureau in Amherst. He then worked with Eddy Hardware until the company ceased operations in Amherst, and later was employed with the Municipality of Cumberland for several years before retiring in August 1980. He is survived by his wife, Jean (Harrison) Graham, formerly of Maccan; daughter, Holly and son-in-law Michael, and grandson, John Harleigh MacDonald, Amherst; son, Stephen and daughter-in-law Nancy (Swick), and grandchildren, Matthew and Katherine Graham, Charlottetown, P.E.I. He is also survived by sisters, Rae Reid, West Advocate; Helen Donkin, Fenwick; Jean Thorpe, Dartmouth, and brothers, John "Jack", Parrsboro; Robert "Bob", Vancouver Island, B.C. He was predeceased by brother, Charles, and sisters, Ruth Gilroy (Truro) and Eleanor Donaldson (Miramichi, N.B.). His remains are resting at Furlong's Funeral Home, Amherst, with visiting hours from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, May 6. The funeral service will be held at Cumberland Memorial Chapel, Amherst, on Friday, May 7, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating. Burial will be in Maccan Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Canada, or the Canadian Cancer Society.
