The Town of Oxford and its six unionized employees have a good working relationship.  So says union president Matt GREEN.

The rest stop complex being built at Exit 7, Thomson Station, is nearing completion.  The complex is the project of Arnold HURLEY and his company, NTC Transit.  It will feature a full service restaurant, a convenience shop and coffee bar, amenities for truckers and Shell gas.

Construction work on Phase II of Oxford's sewer upgrading project to serve Copp Lane - Thompson Road, is underway.

Seven members of the Canadian Salt Company rescue team are to receive Canadian Medals of Bravery for assisting in the search for survivors following the Westray Mine explosion in May 1992.  They are Glen BOYD, Bryne MACINTYRE, Kris LARSEN, Henry CHAPMAN, Roger MCCABE, Wayne REID and Mike BRIGGS.

Austin PATRIQUIN has purchased the "Pitman Place" owned by Howard W. OGILVIE.

Died - At Port Howe on October 13, Zerababel E. FIELDS, 70, mail driver for many years on Port Howe, R.R. No. 1.

BETTS, David Wallace, formerly of Wallace and Halifax NS, London and Dorset England and finally Dornoch, Scotland, died suddenly just three days after his 78th birthday.  Born in Amherst in 1936, son of Mary (Drysdale) and Wallace Betts of Wallace.  Survived by his wife Trixie, Dornoch; daughter Lisa, Wallace/Pugwash; son Luke (Clara), Mexico City.  By his brother Andrew (Sarah), South Bend, Indiana.  Predeceased by his parents and older brother, Donald.  (Obit has photo)

HARNISH, Florence Lucille (Palmer), 93, Wentworth, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014.  Born in Wentworth, daughter of the late Leonard and Ada (Totten) McGill.  Survived by daughter, Beverly (Charles) Patriquin, West Wentwroth; sons, Kevin (Teena) Palmer and Brian (Debra) Palmer; both of Wentworth; brother, Lloyd McGill, Alberta; stepdaughters, Betty (Dave) Tefler, Enfield; Bonnie (Bill) Cochrane, Middle Stewiacke; daughter-in-law, Peggy Patriquin.  Predeceased by her first husband, Bedford Palmer; second husband, Harold Harnish; son, Terry Palmer; brothers, Stanley, Maynard, Earl, Layton and Percy; sisters, Thelma, Hazel and Daisy.  (Obit has photo)

MACKAY, Phyllis Elizabeth, 79, Robinsonville, NB, on October 26, 2014.  Born in Robinsonville on July 22, 1935, daughter of the late Gertrude Elizabeth MacCallum.  Survived by her husband of 50 years, Lawrence MacKay; a son, Jody (Lori Mandamin), Edmonton; brother Glendon Firth (Robinsonville); sister Ruby Nugent (Carl), Halifax, brother-in-law Bill (Diane) MacKay, Pugwash; sisters-in-law Mary Patterson, Pugwash and Grace Speth, Bridgewater.  Predeceased by her mother and a brother Cecil.
