Re: Spicer / McClure marriages

Hi Dave

I believe all children of Isaac and Emma were born in N.S., where is the question. Clara died 1884 in Apple River, and by 1891 they are in Hants Co. I am still pondering why Isaac died in Mississippi, when the family was in Mass.? He appears to be a finish carpenter (doors & windows, etc.).

Hi Steve:

Thanks for this.

Then Lillian Spicer possibly wasn’t born in Mass., nor Mary or Louisa who are in between Lillian and Frederick.

Hi Dave

Isaac and Emma Spicer are in Hants Co. in 1891. That is where Frederick Cleveland Spicer was born [Aug. 1890 in Hantsport] before they went stateside in 1895.

Hi Steve:

Looking in another file I have access to, Isaac Newton Spicer and Emma J. Elderkin possibly didn’t go Stateside until sometime after 1884 as there’s a daughter, Clara D. Spicer (abt 1879, Apple River-10 Aug 1884 Apple River).

Lillian Spicer appears to have been born in Mass., in 1885 so the move was possibly between 1884 and 1885.

As for William Richard Spicer, he was possibly born 2 Apr 1882 in New Salem as he’s not on the 1881 Census, enumerated in the spring of 1881?

March – April 1881 would still have a lot of cold and snow in the area for an enumerator to get around? If we know the exact date the 1881 Apple River/New Salem census was taken, William Richard Spicer would have been born after that date.

My thoughts only.

Dave

It sure looks like Frederick Cleveland Spicer's first wife was his brother William Richard Spicer's second wife. Both were s/o Isaac Nelson Spicer and Emma J. Elderkin.
