Obit: MAPPLEBECK, Mabel Lucy [nee MacALONEY]

Mapplebeck, Mabel Lucy - 73, Centreville, Kings Co. passed away peacefully,
on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at the QEII,
Halifax. Born on April 23, 1941 in Springhill, she was a daughter of the
late John MacAloney and Laurena (Pettigrew) MacAloney. She was predeceased
by her loving husband and best friend, Tom; brother Elmer; infant sister
Shirley. She is survived by daughters Kathy (Mike), Halifax; Brenda
(Richard), Saskatoon; Kim, Berwick; Sharon (Allen), Halifax; and sons Jim
(Kathy), Cathcart, ON; Tony (Holly), Barrie; Scott, Sacremento CA; sister
Nellie (Edgar) and brother David ; 15 grandchildren and 13
great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Growing up she
spent many springs with her father in the forest tapping for maple syrup and
summers on her grandparents farms. Her love of nature led her to her
vocation and she retired from Bosveld¹s Fruit Farm in 2006. Following her
wishes, there will be no visitation or service. A memorial tree will be
planted at the Memorial Forest, University of Guelph. Donations in memory
can be made to the Lung Association Nova Scotia or the Canning Baptist
Church. Special thank you to Dr. Goth and the staff in the IMCU and unit 8.1
of the QEII. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother- an incredible cook,
crafter, counsellor, storyteller and friend. The life of the party; the
heart of the family. A spirited adventurer, traveller, and comedian. A
playful, optimistic, good-natured soul. Your family and friends will miss
you all the days of our lives. So long Momma. Arrangements have been
