It took 11 years but Sarah and Richad LADD of Wallace River received their Canadian citizenship papers last week, in time for their 24th wedding anniversary.

Died - Harold J. CARTER, 76, Oxford, at his home on October 9.
Died - Gloria Ann KING, 73, Oxford, October 11 in the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst.
Died - William John "Bill" BINGHAM, 75, Malagash, October 7, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro.

Oxford's mayor, Francis (Mac) MCCONAGHY, successfully staved off a challenge from Alfred KING in Saturday's municipal election and saved his seat for a second, three-year term.

The new L.A. animal Shelter dog kennel on the Dickson Road, near Springhill is beginning to take shape.

Died - Edith Mae BRADLEY, 85, of Wallace Bridge, October 10.
Died - Florence BOWSER, formerly of Port Howe, on October 1.

Thursday, October 10, 1974.

Under a proposed rate increase granted Maritime Tel and Tel by the Board of Commissioners of Public Utilities today, subscribers will pay an increase of 95c for residential rates and between 85c and $3 for business services.

Five Lions Club members received 15-yea pins last Thursday:  Paul DEVEAUX, Colin RIPLEY, Lauder LESLIE, Maurice (Skip) WALSH and David SWAN.  All are charter members of the Club.

WILKINSON, Veronica Lyttle (Godfrey), age 69, Oxford, passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2014.  Born in Springhill, daughter of the late Charles and Inez (Miller) Hunter.  Survived by husband, Lloyd Wilkinson; son, Gordon Reginald (Kim) Godfrey; brother, Albro Vaughn (Phyllis) Hunter, Riverview, NB; sisters, Kathleen (William) Porter, Mississauga, ON; Maxine (Gerald) Walker, Springhill; Darlene (Robert) Arsenault, Amherst; step-son, Lloyd Wilkinson Jr.; step-daughter, Nicole Kitsko.  Predeceased by her first husband, Gordon Godfrey; sister, Emma June Stewart; brother, Reginald Hunter.  (Obit has photo)
