Floyd Murray Smith
(December 16, 1932 - January 8, 2015)

SMITH, Floyd Murray (³Fluff²). Age 82 of Dartmouth NS passed away January 8,
2015 at Northwood Centre, Halifax, NS. Born in Springhill December 16, 1932,
he was the son of the late Lois (Colborne) and Arlie Smith. Survived by his
wife, Ruth (Pike Wood); stepmother, Annie Smith; children Dorinda (Ross)
Alderman and David Smith; sisters, Trudy Cull, Linda (Doug) Hill;
stepdaughters, Maggie (Kevin) Chapman, Natalie Wood, Sarah (Trevor) Ronahan;
granddaughters, Kaitlyn (Evan) and Jenn Alderman; stepgrandchildren, Ashley
(Dale), Chris, Katie (Alex), Becky, Leanne, Carly, Taylor; step
greatgrandson, Trey, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his first
wife, Margie (Marshall); siblings, Gordon, Percy, Gerald, Catherine; special
niece, Kelly Mingo and nephew Michael Cull. He attended the NS Agricultural
College and lived in Springhill, Glace Bay, Eastern Passage, and Dartmouth.
He retired from the NS Research Foundation. He was heavily involved in the
Scouting movement in Springhill and Glace Bay. Apart from his family he was
devoted to singing with the ³Major Chords² quartet and in many church
choirs. Fluff spent many happy times watching the sandbars coming and going
at the family cottage in Linden. He enjoyed bowling, golf, hunting, and
especially hugs. Thank-you to the staff of Northwood for your special caring
and kindness. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Dartmouth
Funeral Home. Visitation will take place 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm, Friday, January
16 at Cole Harbour Woodside United Church, 15 Bissett Road (corner of Cole
Harbour Road), where the funeral will be held 1 pm on Saturday, January 17.
A reception will follow in the church hall. As an _expression_ of sympathy
donations may be made to Cole Harbour Woodside United Church or a charity of
