Looking on the previous page of the 1911 St. John, N.B. Census, Rosaline Hatfield is in the Good Shepherd Monastery as a “penitent”.

There is a Mother Superior; an Assistant; a number of Nuns; a male Janitor; a number of “prisoners”; a number of “penitents”; a number of “orphans”.

Not overly familiar with Catholic Nun terminology, was Rosalie Hatfield considering becoming a Catholic Nun? Her parents were Catholic.

Eileen H. (Hatfield) McNeil - 87, of Warrington, PA; formerly of Orange, CT died on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Neshaminy Manor.
She was the loving wife of the late William J. McNeil for 52 years. Eileen was born in Waltham, MA to the late George & Mary (McDade) Hatfield.
She graduated from Waltham High School, class of 1947. Eileen was employed as an Assistant Clerk of Court for the County of Middlesex, MA for 10 years. She was an avid painter and enjoyed traveling with her late husband, Bill.
Eileen is survived by two sons, Douglas F. McNeil of Suwanee, GA and William G. McNeil & wife, Deirdre of Stratford, CT; two daughters, Linda M. Tantawi & husband, Dino of Demarest, NJ and Eileen H. Garrett & husband, Kevin of Edmond, OK; five grandchildren, Shannon, Alessandra, William, Adam & Riley and one great-grandchild, Logan.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, George "Bud" Hatfield and a sister, Mary Shaughnessy.
A visitation will be held on December 27, 2014 from 9:00 am – 9:45 am at the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main St, Waltham, MA 02453 followed by a procession to the church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on December 27, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 133 School St, Waltham, MA 02451.
Inurnment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Waltham, MA.

Waltham – Mr. George W. Hatfield, Jr., of Waltham, died Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Kindred Hospital in Boston. He was 85.

George was born in Waltham on August 31, 1925, a son of the late George W., Sr. and Mary J. (McDade) Hatfield. He was raised in Waltham and had also lived in Weston for twenty years before returning to Waltham twenty-eight years ago. He worked for many years as a licensed dispensing optician specializing in contact lenses until his retirement twenty-five years ago.

He was a graduate of Waltham High School, Manter Hall Prep School in Cambridge and the Fenway School of Optics in Boston. George was a proud World War II veteran serving with the United States Navy. He was also a 3rd and 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening and reading.

George was the husband of forty-five years to the late Margaret M. (O’Connell) Hatfield and leaves his sister, Eileen McNeil and her husband, Bill, of Sellersville, Pennsylvania; three sisters-in-law, Mary Monahan of Waltham, Eileen Flynn of Watertown and Antoinette O’Connell of Wayland and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

He was also the brother of the late Mary V. Shaughnessy.

Family and friends will honor and remember George’s life by gathering to visit on Monday, October 18th in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery, Watertown.
