JEFFERS, George R. - 62, Jenks Avenue, Parrsboro, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2005, as the result of a house fire. Born in Lakelands, he was a son of the late Roy and Dorothy (Meldrum) Jeffers. He retired from the Canadian Armed Forces after 21 years of service. He later worked as a Commissionaire in Kingston, Ont., before moving to Parrsboro. He is survived by daughters, Sherry Jeffers, Parrsboro; Suzanne MacKenzie, Toronto; Sandra Compston (Harold), Kingston, Ont.; sons, Anthony, Parrsboro; Michael, Kingston; granddaughters, Jessica Jeffers, Parrsboro; Shannon MacKenzie, Toronto; sisters, Rosella Fader (Gerald) and Bertha Rector (Basil), both of Parrsboro; brothers, Leon, Oromocto, N.B.; Floyd (Betty), Parrsboro; John (Belle), Zephyr Hills, Fla.; David, Halifax. He was predeceased by sister, Linda; brothers, Everett and Lee. Visitation today from 7-9 p.m. in Smith's Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Rev. New Minas - Gary Leon Jeffers, 24, of 1089 Prospect Road, New Minas, died Monday at home. Born in Kentville, he was a son of Leon and Hilda Ruth (Smith) Jeffers. Besides his parents, he is survived by paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Jeffers, Parrsboro; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hartley Smith, New Minas; and his great grandmother, Mrs. Ida Smith, Parrsboro. The body is in H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Kentville, where funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Rev. Ian MacDonald officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Trinity United Cemetery, Parrsboro.

He was born in Parsborough, Nova Scotia to the late Roy and Dorothy Jeffers and was the husband of the late Leona Theresa Jeffers. Vic, known as "Uncle" to many of his friends and family, served his country for 22 years with the Canadian Armed Forces and also served with the Knights of Columbus as a Lay Minister. In the little spare time he had, Uncle could be found either in his garden, in the kitchen bottling his homemade jam, or looking at an old car in need of restoration. Victor is survived by daughters, Brigette Paul (Terry Boutilier) and Bernadine Gobeil (Carl); son, Gordon Paul (Treena); ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, John; sisters, Rosela and Bertha, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Vic was predeceased by his son, Robert Paul and brothers, Everett, Lee and David. Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home from 7 to 9 pm on Wednesday , December 31, 2014 and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Thursday, January 1, 2015. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 11:00 am with Fr. Antonio Reyes as celebrant. Interment will take place in the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
