Hi Eleanor:

Perhaps now that Emma and her family have been brought to the genealogical forefront, many of us will realize this fact as well.

Such a lovely lady despite losing 6 of her 9 children in infancy and 2 husbands. It takes someone very special to do this indeed. Many could learn a few of life’s lessons from her.

I am surprised no one has commented but Emma was a lovely woman.  She always seemed to maintain a quiet good cheer and a kind word, never a cross one.

OBITUARY: Mrs. Gordon V. Ross
East Leicester - Mrs. Gordon V. Ross, 93, of East Leicester, and formerly of
Streets Ridge, died Thursday in All Saint's Hospital, Springhill.
Born in Hansford, she was the former Queen Emma Hudson, a daughter of the
late Charles Richard and Christina A. (McNaughton) Hudson.
She was a member of the Oxford United Baptist Church and a member of the
Little River United Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Freda (Mrs. Carl Hunsley) East Leicester; six
grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Suther W. Rushton; her second
husband, Gordon V. Ross; two daughters, Florence Rushton and Freta Rushton
in Infancy; four sons, Floyd Rushton, Roy Rushton, and Walton[sic] Rushton
in infancy, and Lester Richard Rushton; a number of sisters, three brothers,
George, William and Samuel; and three grandchildren.
The body is in Allen's Funeral Home, Oxford where funeral will be 2 p.m.
Sunday, Rev. Dewis Rector and Mr. Raeburn MacNeill officiating, with
committal service in Oxford Pine Grove Cemetery and spring burial in East
Leicester Cemetery.
