Obituary:
Helen ³Eileen² Giddens, 78 Truro
It is with broken hearts the children of Helen ³Eileen² (George) Giddens
announce the passing of our mother on January 17, 2014 at the Colchester
East Hants Health Centre, Truro surrounded by her loving family. She was
born in Folly Mountain on February 10, 1935, the daughter of the late Minor
and Clara (Smith) George. Eileen spent her earlier years in Toronto with
Gordon raising their family. Returning to N.S., she worked at Hayward Lanes
then Canadian Automotive. For several years she did Homecare. She loved
camping and fishing and she and Raymond would spent endless hours on the
water. Eileen loved to knit and bake. She loved jewelry, the shiner, the
better, and everything she saved was always an antique. She was known for
the saying the alphabet backwards. Eileen is survived by her children,
Gordie (Debbie) Alexander, Belmont, Brenda (Dick) McMullen, Debbie (Lent)
McMullen, Cindy (Wade) Smith, all of Londonderry; seven grandchildren and
eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Vonnie, Pauline, Carol, Mona; brothers,
Alton and Howard. She was predeceased by her first husband, Gordon, the
father of her children; her second husband, Raymond Giddens; sisters, Sharon
Cooke, Mildred McDow; brothers-in-law, Harold Adams and Frank George. Thank
you to Dr. Trevor Locke and Dr. Courtney Smith; the staff of the palliative
care unit and the staff at Townsviews Estates where she resided. Thank
everyone for your support. No visitation or memorial service by request.
Family interment at a later date in Hillcrest Cemetery, Londonderry.
Donations if desired may be made to the Colchester East Hants Hospice
