Alwin Myron "Clem" Ripley

Alwin Myron "Clem" Ripley, 85 years of age, of Nappan, passed away
peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, July 4, 2014. Born in
Hamilton ON, he was a son of the late Morley & Lottie (Smith) Ripley.

Alwin moved with his family to Nova Scotia in 1932. Alwin was a truck driver
and mechanic before becoming a Canada Post Rural Mail driver for 27 years
and a school bus driver for 19 years. He always joked that he drove all his
children to school. He volunteered at the Nappan United Church for over 70
years and was a Boy Scout Leader for over 10 years. Six of his scouts
received the Queen Scout Award. Alwin & Ruth had a beef farm and were very
active in 4H with their children. They enjoyed square dancing with the
Cumberland Twirlers and the Bluenose RV Squares. They were members of the
Cumberland Antique Car Club.

Alwin will be missed by his wife of 61 years, Ruth Irene (Pettigrew) Ripley;
sons, Melvin (Rhonda Murphy) of Miramichi, NB, and Reg (Pam) of Hayter AB;
daughters, Louise Jollota (Dennis Farnell) of Nappan, NS, Marlene Embree
(Michael) of Nappan, NS and Sharon Weatherbee (Steven) of Hammonds Plains,
NS, 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; brother, Leonard of Ottawa,

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by an infant brother, Garland;
sisters, Reta Murphy, Joyce Brown, grandson Christopher Ripley, daughter in
law Mary Ripley and son in law Eric Jollota.
Arrangements are under the direction of Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, 70
Church Amherst, NS where visiting hours will be held on Monday July 7, 2014
from 7-9 p.m. and July 8th from 1-3 p.m. with the funeral service to follow
at 3 p.m. Burial will take place in the Fenwick Cemetery.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Nappan
United Church or the V.O.N.

The family would like to thank the V.O.N., and Dr. Gradstein, the Ambulance
Attendants and the Staff at the CRHCC for their care and compassion for
