OBITUARY: William E. Gilbert
There passed away at the Springhill Cottage Hospital Wednesday, William E.
Gilbert, aged 70 years. The deceased had been in failing health for the past
several weeks. He carried on a grocery store at Riverside, Parrsboro, for
some years. He leaves a wife and five daughters - Amanda and Veronica,
Montreal; Gladys and Meada, Halifax; Elsie, Metheun, Mass.; and three sons -
William, Toronto; Lorne, Springhill; and Earl G., Everett, Mass. The funeral
was held from St. George's Church on Saturday, following a short service at
the home. The service was conducted by Rev. C.R. Harris. The hymns sung were
"Abide With Me", "A Few More Years May Roll" and "Now The Laborer's Task is
O'er". The pall-bearers were Harvey McAloney, Charles Forbes, Wm. Leitch and
Edson Hatfield. Funeral director was Stanley W. Smith. The floral offerings
were very beautiful.
