Re: Omen Lewis

Your James Oman Lewis who died 1919 is possibly the one Deb posted info on a couple of days ago.

Unless he died out of province, or his body never found, the government must have lost his death record as I can’t locate it on the NSARM Vitals.

I have Archie John Lewis’ obit in my basket list for my next trip to the Archives.

It appears, m/2, Bella Fife, son Archie John Lewis, his wife and children are also buried in the same cemetery. Also looks like two Lewis gentlemen, Cecil B., and Gerald R., were both married to the same Langille lady.

As for the “History of Parrsboro”, I only have it as a .pdf file which opens in Adobe Reader. I forgot who sent it to me many years ago but it has 47 pages and was written in 1900.

Would Steve be able to give you the URL?

Dave

Dave:

I was just re-reading some emails to see if I missed anything.

I have a note that James Oman Lewis died 29 July 1919 (unconfirmed).

I am unable to locate (as easily as Steve did) the History of Parrsboro.  Can anyone give me a URL for it?  Or a copy?

Thanks,

Eric

Eric:

Thanks again.

Haven’t found James Omen Lewis’s death but Belle Fife died 22 Nov 1931 at Pugwash and she was widowed so James Omen died before 1931. Her death record indexed as Omer but filled out as Mrs. Omen Lewis. Birth filled in as Can – U.S.A. by son, Archie which is odd.

Dave

Thanks. That makes sense.

What government records can you trust these days?

At least the family is moving away from the use of so many Caleb’s, Jesse’s and Oman’s.
