I have her mother as Nita DesBarres Morris, born 21 Mar 1895 at Advocate
Harbour per her Delayed Registered Birth Application.

Her parents were Capt. Malcolm MacDonald Morris and Achash H.[annah?] Keith,
both from Advocate, who are rumoured to have both drowned on 14 Apr 1902.

*** Capt. Malcolm Morris, his wife, daughter and brother-in-law along with
the ships crew were drowned approximately April 14, 1902 while at sea.

Leah Appleby (Nee Cookson) DeMont died Saturday, November 4, 2006, at the
Life Care Center of West Bridgewater after a short illness. She was 88 years
old. She was born in the Hyde Park section of Boston and was a graduate of
Boston Schools. She graduated from the New England Baptist Hospital School
of Nursing as a R.N. She has lived in Hanson for the past 65 years and
operated a foster home for disabled WWII Veterans from 1966 until she
retired at the age of 80. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Morton
DeMont. Daughter of the late Arthur Irving and Nita DesBarres (Morris)
Cookson. Loving mother of Frank V. DeMont and his wife Peggy (O'Connor) of
Hanson. Sister of Mary E. Sault of New Palm Bay, FL and the late Hazel I.
Waterman, Muriel A. Frank, Vivian Smiley-Pigeon, and Dorothea E. Fitzgerald.
Grandmother of Frank A. (Maria) DeMont, Katherine L. (George) Priolo both of
Hanson. David E. DeMont of Whitman, and Margaret M. Bow of Hull. Also
survived by 11 great grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews. Calling hours
will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 7, from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the Leighton-MacKinnon
Funeral Home 4 West Washington St. (st Rte.58) Hanson. A Funeral Service
will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM in the funeral home. The Rev. Gordon
Postill will officiate. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to
attend. Interment in Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman.

WATERMAN, Gordon Winsor

Gordon Winsor Waterman, 86, formerly of Walnut Creek, CA died peacefully on
Sunday, (February 1, 2004) at Hartford Hospital. Gordon was born on December
15, 1917, in Warwick, RI, the only son of the late Ida Gordon and Edward
Lewis Waterman. He spent most of his youth in Bluefield, WV, and following
the death of his parents lived with his late Aunt and Uncle, Emma and Elmer
Austin in Providence, RI, where he attended Brown University. He served as a
Staff Sergeant in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Gordon had a long
career with Chevron Oil Company and traveled extensively throughout the USA
and Puerto Rico. He was married for 49 years to the love of his life, Hazel
Irene Cookson, who died in 1990. They had two beloved daughters, Susan and
Gail, both of whom died at an early age. Gordon never lost his great sense
of humor, and was a very polite and gentle person. He is survived by his
devoted cousin, Robert Austin Shaw and his wife Suzanne, of East Hartford,
and Englewood, FL, and their sons, Bruce Austin Shaw of Forest Hills, NY,
and Douglas Gordon Shaw of Charlotte, NC. Gordon was a member of the Walnut
Creek Presbyterian Church. We would like to thank his extended family at The
Atrium in Rocky Hill for all their love and caring support during his
lengthy residence there. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the
Alzheimer's Association, 96 Oak St., Hartford, CT 06106. A memorial service
to celebrate Gordon's life will be held in California at a later date at the
convenience of his family. Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, South Windsor has
care of arrangements.
