I would assume the birth father was an Atkinson as well.

Marion’s sister, Rosamond Tipping also had an illegitimate daughter:

While on the Tippings, check the B.C. Vitals with a surname “Tipping” only search. Most of Jessie Thompson Tipping (born Parrsboro) and Eliza Ann Gouch’s children went to the West Coast before the 1901 Census.

He was Johnson W.[William] Atkinson ‘illegitimate” on the NSARM Vitals. Thompson Tipping, Marion’s father, was the informant. Birth father’s name is blank on the form.

William was the s/o Marion (Tipping) Warren. He appears to have been born before she married George Warren. I located him on the 1881 census with his grandparents, Robert Thompson Tipping and Rachel Ann Gow. He is listed as Allison W. Tipping.
