Title: Re: [nscumber] Sarah Margaret 'Sadie' (Pettis) McRae
Hi Steve:
John Fraser McRae was Sadie’s step-son not son.
Thomas Edward McRae was born in Springhill per his registered birth. He m/1 Daisy McNaughton on 6 Mar 1918 in Pictou County. Daisey died 8 months later on 2 Sep 1918, possibly from birth complications with son, John Fraser McRae. Widower, Thomas Edward m/2 Sadie on 24 Mar 1921 in New Glasgow as MacRae not McRae (Groom’s signature is McRae on the document filled out as MacRae).
>From the registered birth and m/1, I feel the surname is McRae over MacRae.

Mrs. Thomas E. MacRae
Many friends here learned with deep regret of the death of Mrs. Thomas E. MacRae in San Carlos, California on Saturday, May 11th. Mrs. MacRae had been in ill health for several months. Fifty-six years of age, she was the eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Pettis of Parrsboro. Left to mourn her loss are her husband in San Carlos; a step-son, John Fraser MacRae, of Bangor, Me.; two sisters, (Gertrude) Mrs. L.M. Davis of 4923 Valdez Ave., Belmont, California; (Marjorie) Mrs. R.F. Spear of 1010 East Cardinal Drive, Cherry Chase, Sunnyvale, California; and seven brothers, Wylie in Arizona; Morris in Edmonton, Alta.; Frank in Denver, Colorado; Lorne, Thornton and Murray in New York; and Fred W.
