OBITUARY: C.L. McManaman
Parrsboro - Cecil Lawrence McManaman, 72, of Spring Street, Parrsboro, a
retired cook, died Friday in Highland View Hospital, Amherst. Born in Salt
Springs, Cumberland County, he was a son of the late James and Mary
(Piggott) McManaman. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus.
Surviving are his wife, the former Rhoda Brown; three daughters, Theresa
(Mrs. E.D. Barnes), Amherst; Eunice (Mrs. W.W.H. Sutton), Ottawa; Helen
(Mrs. Alton Terfry), Fort Lawrence; and 10 grandchildren. The body is in
Furlong's Funeral Home, Amherst. Funeral service will be held Monday at 10
a.m., in St. Charles Roman Catholic Church. Committal service will be held
in Highland View Cemetery receiving chapel, with burial in St. Charles
Cemetery in the spring.

Obituary
McMANAMAN, Rhoda Irene - 87, Oxford, formerly of Amherst, died October 17,
1994, at home. Born in Fox River, Cumberland County, she was a daughter of
the late William Eber and Fannie J. (Sabean) Brown. She was a member of St.
Charles Church, Amherst; life member of the Catholic Women's League and in
younger years was very active in both church and community affairs, holding
positions on the boards of the Children's Aid Society, Amherst Credit Union,
from where she received a citation, and the Milk Fund. She taught school in
South Range, Digby County before locating in Amherst in 1928. She was
co-owner-operator of the Old Homestead Restaurant, downtown Amherst, for
many years. She is survived by three daughters, Theresa (Mrs. Ernest
Barnes), Amherst; Eunice (Mrs. Walter Sutton), Brockville, Ont.; Helen (Mrs.
Alton Terfry), Windsor; brother, Clarence, Avonport; two half-sisters, Mrs.
Maxine Hatfield, Parrsboro; Glenice (Mrs. Howard Hatfield), Bremerton,
Washington; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and
nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Cecil L.; sister, Edith; five
half-brothers, Whitman, Glendon Brown; George, Leo, Walton Cochrane.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday in St.
Charles Church, Amherst, Rev. John Hayes officiating. Private burial will
follow in St. Charles Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of
MacDiarmids's Funeral Home, Oxford.
