Obituary for Freda Croft
CROFT, Freda Mae (Walsh) – 96, Wolfville passed away February 20, 2012 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Gaspereau she was a daughter of the late Ada Walsh. Freda was a house cleaner for many years right up until the age of 73. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Freda is survived by her husband Lawrence; sons Cecil Walsh, New Minas, Robert Walsh (Diane Baker), Bridgewater, Larry Walsh (Nancy Piercey), Berwick, George Croft (Dorothy), New Minas, Donald (Barb) Croft, New Minas; daughters Laura “Hattie” (Mike) Becker, Bell Ewart, Ontario, Elizabeth (Robert) Laloned, Ontario, Marjorie (Harry) Pinch, Greenfield, Margaret (Merton) Rafuse, South Alton, ***Ann (Laurie) Brown, New Minas***, Rose (John) Boylan, Gaspereau; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Besides her mother Freda was predeceased by a son Bedford; daughter Edith Croft; brother James, sisters Josephine, Stella; grandchildren Wendy and Ann Levy, Bonita Spencer; step granddaughter Linda Gauthier; step grandson Frederick Spencer; great grandson Daniel Gallant. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held Thursday, February 23 at 2:00 p.m. from the Gaspereau Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Shaw and Rev. Gary Manthorne officiating. Interment in the Gaspereau cemetery. Donations in memory of Freda may be made to the Wolfville Animal Hospital or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Obituary:
Zelphia Mae Brown, 93 of Wolfville formerly of Avonport passed away Wednesday June 24, 2009 in Wolfville Nursing Home. Born in Greenfield, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Esther (Demont) Schofield. Mae was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a skilled seamstress. She loved camping in her trailer, gardening and music. She will be missed by her many family and friends. She loved her Sunday dinners with her family and the afternoon drive. She loved to cook and bake and there was always room for more at the table. Mae is survived by her sister, Jessie Oickle; sons, Cecil (Linda), New Minas; Dennis (Diane), Mount Denson; Phillip (Betty), Newport Station; ***Laurie (Ann), New Minas***; daughters, Marion (Don) Wilkens, Falmouth; Gene Brown, Newtonville Rd.; Christina (Ivan) Brown, Wolfville; Faye (Richard) Palmeter, Avonport; Glenice (Steven) Misner, Chipman Brook; 28 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 16 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mae was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Brown; sons, Walton and Lloyd Brown; daughter, Stella Veinot; grandchildren, Ronda, Vicki, Ricky, Tony Jr. and John and 9 brothers and sisters. Visitation for Mae will be held from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Saturday June 27 in H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 568 Main St., Wolfville (902-542-2151) where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday June 28. Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. 65, Wolfville, passed away at home on Saturday, October 24, 2009. Born in
Greenfield, Kings County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Mae
(Schofield) Brown. Christina was a gifted seamstress and loved to bake
mouthwatering pies and homemade bread. She worked for Pik"N Wear in Windsor,
the family business, after her children had grown up. Christina is survived
by her husband, Ivan, Wolfville; daughter Deborah (Tony) Usher, Coldbrook;
son Gregory (Monica), Windsor; 3 grandsons, several nieces, nephews, and
cousins, aunt Jessie Oickle, brothers Cecil (Linda), Laurie (Ann), Dennis
(Diane), Phillipe (Betty), sisters Gene Brown, Faye (Richard) Palmeter,
Glenice (Steven) Misner, and Marion Wilkins. Besides her parents, Christina
was predeceased by her daughter Ronda Lynn, sister Stella Veinot, and
brothers Lloyd and Walton. Cremation has taken place and no visitation by
request. The Funeral Service will be held at H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 5
Leverett Avenue, Kentville on Wednesday, October 28, at 2:00 pm with Rev.
Gary Manthorne officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
