OBITUARY
VERNON HATFIELD
Relatives received word of the passing of Vernon Hatfield, on Dec. 28th, following a long period of failing health. Born in Port Greville, 1897, he was the son of Bent and Minnie (Fletcher) Hatfield. Owing to the death of his mother when he was very young, the late Mr Hatfield, his brothers and sister, resided with his grandparents, the late Mr and Mrs. Reuban Hatfield, Port Greville, and an uncle, the late Thomas Canning and Mrs. Canning, Ward's Brook, N.S.
Mr. Hatfield went to Anaconda, and in 1928, to Missoula, Mont., where he was employed with John R. Daily, Inc., until his retirement in 1962. He was a member of Harmony Lodge 49, A.F. and A.M.
Surviving are his wife, the former Louise Still; one son, Donald, of Missoula; one daughter, Mrs. Thomas Wyant, Lewiston, Idaho; one brother, Trueman, Grand Falls, Mont.; one sister Greta, (Mrs. J. Watson MacGillvery) Waverly, Mass.; six grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Duncan (Christabelle Hatfield) MacKenzie, Dartmouth, N.S., is a niece. One brother, Sydney, predeceased him several years ago.
Private funeral services were held in Squire-Simmons-Carr Rose Chapel with Dr. Claude Bayoton(?) officiating.

Donald Vernon Hatfield
BLANCHARD, Idaho - Donald Vernon Hatfield, 73, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2006, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
He was born June 4, 1932, in Missoula to Vernon and Louise Hatfield. After graduating from high school, Don joined the United States Air Force in 1951, serving in Vietnam, Korea and Germany. Following his 26-year military career, he and his wife Shirley retired to Blanchard, Idaho, to build their dream home and pursue his hobbies of restoring old cars and volunteering in his community.
Don was a longtime member of the Spirit Lake and Blanchard Lions Clubs. He also served as a commissioner for the Spirit Lake/Blanchard Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife Shirley at the family home; sister Joan Wyant; sons Rick Hatfield and Mike Lobdell; daughters Teddi Nooney and Charlene Luzynski; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Don's life will be 1-4 p.m. on April 15 at his home in Blanchard. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Missoula.
In lieu of flowers donations in Don's name may be made to the Bonner Community Hospice, P.O. Box 1448, Sandpoint, ID 83864.
Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Priest River, Idaho, is in charge of arrangements.
