Obituary
It is with great sadness the family of Joan Bennett Christie, 76 of Amherst,
NS, with her family by her side announce her passing on Thursday, September
5, 2013 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, following a brief
illness.
Born in Port Greville, NS she was a daughter of the late Robert and Phyllis
Spicer.
Joan worked for Horton Dental Lab for many years and also worked from her
home, providing a loving home for her family.
She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Amherst, where she
was actively involved with the World Relief Program, and the Woman¹s
Auxillary. Joan had a special love for the community, shown through her
support for the L.A. Animal Shelter, the local hospital Foundation, the
Amherst Food Assistance Network, I.O.D.E., also a co-founder of Dr. and Mrs.
H.E. Christie Foundation.
She was a very generous and loving lady, whom gave from her heart.
Joan will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Victoria (Mark)
Pavlovic-Melanson and Susan Pavlovic both of Amherst; daughter in law, Debra
Pettipas of Dartmouth; grandsons, Greg and Kyle; granddaughters, Crystal,
and Erin; great grandchildren, Kenedi, Brady and Chloe; siblings, Maxine,
Pam, Helen, Robert, Morris, Lester, Steve, Mark and Larry; as well as many
nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her first husband,
Albert Pavlovic; second husband, Dr. Hugh Christie; son, Albert Anthony
(Tony) Pavlovic; sister, Kay; brother in infancy, Douglas Wayne.
Her remains are resting in Campbell¹s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst
(667-9906) with visitation on Monday, September 9, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9
p.m. Funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. from First
Baptist Church, Amherst with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating. Reception to
follow.
Interment will take place at a later date in the Amherst Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Joan¹s memory may be made to the L.A. Animal
Shelter, the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
