OBITUARY: Mrs. Archie Canning
Stellarton - Mrs. Archie Canning, 87, of Rutherford Street, Stellarton, died
Thursday in Aberdeen Hospital. Born in Scotland, she was the former Mary
Rankin, a daughter of the late Robert Hendrie and Helen (Dennistaun) Rankin.
She was an adherent of Sharon St. John United Church, Stellarton. She is
survived by two daughters, Jene (Mrs. Ben MacLean), Stellarton; Mary (Mrs.
Joseph Baxter), Dartmouth; three sons, Gordon and Chesley, both of
Stellarton; Russell, Westville; a brother, James, Stellarton; 28
grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first
husband, George Ferguson; her second husband, Archie Canning; a daughter,
Hazel; two sons, George and Robert; a granddaughter, Ruth. The body is in
Eagles Funeral Home, Westville, where funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Rev.
Norman MacDougal officiating with burial in Auburn Cemetery, Westville.

Robert Rankin Stewart
TORONTO – Robert Rankin Stewart, 51, Toronto, formerly of Westville, passed
away Saturday, October 20, 2012 in Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto,
surrounded by family and loved ones.
Born in Westville, he was the youngest son of the late Maurice and Hazel
Stewart.
Rob was witty, funny and loved to laugh during visits home for family
gatherings. He enjoyed taking pictures to capture these happy times. He also
loved travelling and will be deeply missed by his sister and travelling
companion, Doreen.
Rob is survived by sisters, Doreen Stewart, Florida; Heather (Ron) MacLean,
Westville; brothers: Archie (Pamela) Stewart, Port Hawkesbury; Gordon
(Carol) Stewart, Westville and Roy (Janet) Stewart, Eastern Passage;
sister-in-law Patsy Stewart, Sydney; nephews: Tony, Pat, Tim and Jason;
nieces: Margaret, Catherine, Cindy (twin), Crystal, Rhonda and Tara. He is
also remembered by long-time roommate, best friend and companion, Bill
(Sebastian St. Croix), Bill’s son and Rob’s godson William, and long-time
friend Ron Wilkes, all of Toronto.
Cremation has taken place in Toronto and there will be no service by
request. Family and friends plan to celebrate Ron’s life one day in summer
2013.
Donations in Rob’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to
Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto.
