A. Hugh Brown
SHUBENACADIE, Jan. 11 - The oldest resident of Mill Village, A. Hugh Brown, who had been in failing health for several years, passed peacefully away Monday afternoon, December 21.
Formerly of New Canaan, Cumberland County, he was the son of the late Thomas R. Brown. His mother was the former Sarah Ann McCusker, of County Cork, Ireland.
He was a well known lumber contractor both in Cumberland and Hants Counties.
There survives one brother David of Moncton, N.B., and a sister Mrs Charles Conners of Windsor. Surviving children are his seven sons; Robert of Windsor, Hugh of Bedford; James and McCusker of Truro; Charles, Corey and Calvin of Mill Village and a daughter, Lena (Mrs. H. Reynolds) of Truro.
His wife, one daughter and two sons predeceased him. He is also survived by forty grand-children, fifty seven great grandchildren and several great, great grandchildren.
The service was held, from his late home on the afternoon of December 23. Hymns sung were "Abide With Me" and "Sun of My Soul". Rev. E.R. Mac Vicar of Shubenacadie conducted the service.
The ball bearers were his sons, Robert, Hugh, James, McCusker, Corey and Charles.
Interment in the family plot in Mill Village.
