OBITUARY - Thornton Taggart
Port Greville, December 21 - There passed away suddenly at his home in Fox
River on Monday, December 16, Thornton Taggart, at the age of 62 years. The
deceased had been in failing health for some months. His general personality
and friendliness won him many friends by whom he will be greatly missed. He
displayed great patience and courage during his illness.
He is survived by his widow, and four step-children; a ***son, Howard
Taggart, by a former marriage***; three brothers, William, Wylie and Peter
and one sister residing in the U.S.A. and a sister, Mrs. Thomas Gagnon of
Montreal. The funeral was held from his residence on Wednesday afternoon,
conducted by Rev. T.S. Crisp of the United Church, assisted by Rev. J.H.
Marishane. Interment took place in the United Cemetery.

Howard has to be at least a year older than in his obit as his mother died
Feb 1902. His mother, Clara (Smith) Taggart may possibly have died in
childbirth?

OBITUARY: Howard T. Taggart
Maccan, Howard Talmage Taggart, 70, Maccan, died Sunday in Camp Hill
Hospital, Halifax. Born at Parrsboro, he was son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Thorn Taggart. He was a retired railway employee and a member of Royal
Canadian Legion, Amherst Branch No. 10. He was a veteran of the Second World
War, serving overseas with the 87th Field Battery, Royal Canadian Artillery.
For 12 years he made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Logan Dwyer. He was the last
surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by two aunts and
two uncles. The body is at Furlong's Funeral Home, Amherst, where funeral
service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m., Rev. Gordon Decker will officiate.
Burial will be in Maccan Cemetery.
