1928-2013

Muriel Jewl Vickery - 84, of Kentville, Kings County, NS, passed away
Monday, August 19, 2013 in Shannex-Blomidon Court, Greenwich, Kings County,
NS. Born in Newville, NS, she was a daughter of the late William Lloyd and
Elsie (Pettigrew) McAloney. Muriel grew up near Springhill. Following
graduation from high school, she attended Normal College in Truro where she
trained to be a teacher and met her future husband. She taught Grade 6
students for a year in Springhill. Once she married and had children, she
chose to be a stay-at-home Mom while living in both Nova Scotia and Quebec.
She was a very creative person and expressed herself with fabrics where she
did embroidery, cross-stitch, quilting and even making Teddy bears. She was
a Member of the Lakeshore Creative Stitchery Guild in Quebec. She kept
active through square dancing and travel, where Œworking trips¹ with Vernon
took her around the world. In recent years she has been dealing with health
issues but has always kept a positive attitude. She is survived by a
daughter, Susan (Peter) Arntfield, Winnipeg, Manitoba; two sons, William
(Judith Nowlan), Sainte Anne de Bellevue, Quebec; Edwin (Amy Creighton),
Westmount, Quebec; grandchildren, Karen, Allison, Margot, Laura and
Lexington. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Vernon Randolph
Vickery; and her sister, Dorothy Dick. Cremation has taken place. There will
be no visitation, by request. A celebration of life and reception will be
held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2013 in St. James Anglican Church,
Kentville, The Reverend Cathy Pharo officiating. Burial will take place at a
later date. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made
to the Canadian Cancer Society, World Primate¹s Relief Fund or the charity
of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family
Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
