OBITUARY:
Burkitt, Maurice Colthard - 98, Sable River, Shelburne Co., died November
20, 1995, in Roseway Hospital, Sandy Point. Born February 12, 1897,
Bramhall, England, he was a veteran of the First World War, serving with
116th Batallion, 3rd Division; a veteran of the Second World War, serving
with the service corp. He was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion,
branch 122, Clementsport, and branch 63, Shelburne. Surviving are a son, M.
Roy; daughter, Eleanor Alkerna, both of Burlington, Ont.; step-children,
Viola Hines, Toronto; Douglas Tingley, Sable River; Leonard Tingley, Digby;
Pauline Watson, Clementsvale; Verna Mellor, Weymouth; Madeline Willis, Sable
River; 30 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two
great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Madge Nickerson, Brampton, Ont.; Olive
Campbell, Gimli, Man. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Etta
Kiodt; second wife, the former Sylvia Bird; step-son, Lester Tingley;
step-granddaughter, Linda Chorko. Funeral 2 p.m., today in St. Edward's
Anglican Church, Clementsport, Rev. Edwin Ebsary officiating. Burial in
Clementsport Cemetery. Donations to Roseway Hospital or any charity.
Arrangements under the direction of R.L. Hall Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal.
