OBITUARY
Mrs. Grace Winnifred Burns
The many friends of Mrs. Grace Winnifred Burns were shocked by the news of her sudden death, which occurred early Friday morning. Mrs. Burns, who was the wife of John A. Burns, 222 King Street, passed away from a heart attack shortly after rising this morning.
Mr and Mrs. Burns and family moved to Truro from River Phillip, nine years ago. Mr. Burns is a retired carpenter. Until moving to Truro, Mr. Burns practiced his trade at River Phillip.
Mrs. Burns was born in Shinimicas, Cumberland County, 52 years ago. She was a daughter of the late Katherine Mitchell and John N. Burns.
She was an active and faithful member of St. James Presbyterian Church, and was one time secretary of the W.M.S. She also took a keen interest in Sunday School work and the many branches of her church activities.
She is survived by her husband, three daughters: Phylis Lavers, a member of the C.W.A.C., who is stationed at Camp Borden, Mrs. Walter Hatfield, (Bertie) of Truro, and Mrs. Jerry Hashie (Winnifred) of Springhill, also six sons: Malcolm, who is employed at Dartmouth, Milford, a member of the R.C.A.F. at Dartmouth, Mitchell, Joseph, Walter and Avard of Truro. One grandchild, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hatfield, two sisters: Mrs. Louise Patterson, of Truro, and Mrs. Harry Brandser of Glen Bain, Sask., three brothers: Mitchell, who was a casualty in the First Great War; Earl and William of White Court, Alberta.
Funeral arrangements are to be made later pending the arrival of relatives from out-of-town. The funeral services will be conducted by Rev. F. A. Lawrence of St. James Presbyterian Church.
