McDONALD, John James Gordon - 91, Meadowland Villa, 23 Retson Dr., Bible
Hill, died December 22, 1998, in the villa. Born in East River St. Mary's,
Pictou Co., he was a son of the late Rev. William and Elizabeth (Kent)
McDonald. He was a bank manager for the Royal Bank of Canada for 45 years.
He was a member of Trinity United Church, New Glasgow, and Curren Masonic
Lodge 68, Hopewell, where he received his 50-year jewel. He was also an avid
bridge player. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He
is survived by his sons, George and wife Janet, Baku Azerbaijan; Rev. Curtis
and wife Bev, East Mountain; daughter, Elizabeth (Beth) (Mrs. Art deCarle),
Saskatoon; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased
by his wife, the former Dorothy Louise Ferrand; brother, George; sisters,
Margaret and Anna. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Friday, December 25, in
Mattatall Funeral Home, 55 Young St., Truro. Funeral service 2 p.m.
Saturday, December 26, in Valley United Church, Valley, Colchester Co., Rev.
Ebbie Snow officiating. Burial at a later date in Amherst Cemetery, Amherst,
Cumberland Co. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to Alzheimer
Society of Nova Scotia; the Mission and Service Fund of the United Church of
Canada or to a charity of your choice.
