Robert Pettigrew, River Bourgeois

Robert Lloyd Pettigrew, River Bourgeois, passed away peacefully in the
Richmond Villa, St. Peter's, on Jan. 3, 2008. Born Dec. 28, 1924, in
Economy, Colchester County, he was a son of the late Ozzie and Julia
(Elliott) Pettigrew. He was a veteran of the Second World War, served with
the North Nova Scotia Highlanders. He served in England and France and was
wounded at Cape Gris Nez, France. He was a life member of the War Amputation
of Canada, a life member of St. Peter's Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 47,
and a member of the River Bourgeois 50+ Club. On July 29, 2007, he was
presented the Legion d'Honneur Medal by Mr. Olivier Nicholas, Consul General
of France for exemplary and outstanding behaviour during the battles of the
liberation of France and Europe. He is survived by his wife of 55 years,
Mary (Fougere); sisters, Dorothy (Harold) Rector, Great Village, Janet
Howard, Economy; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers,
Frank and Royal, sister, Joan. Visitation will take place from 2-9 p.m.,
Saturday, Jan. 5 at the River Bourgeois Funeral Home. Funeral service to
take place Sunday, Jan. 6 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home, officiated by Rev.
Everett McDow. Burial to follow in St. John the Baptist Parish Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the River Bourgeois Cenotaph Restoration Fund or
Richmond Villa, St. Peter's. Arrangements under the direction of the Alex A.
Morrison Funeral Home, St. Peter's.
