Obituary:
Peacefully on August 28 2011, at the age of 84, surrounded by her loving
family. Beloved wife of Eugene for 55 years. Loving and devoted mother of
the late Darien Stubberfield and husband Gary, Margaret Hayes and husband
Tom. Dear sister of the late Sidney Hughes and sister-in-law of Betty.
Dearest grandmother of Alex, Danielle and Emily. Will be missed by her
nieces and nephews, Carolyn and Darrell, Jim and Liz, Peter and Vickie, John
and Krista. Many thanks to her special friends who have shown their love and
compassion through the years, in her ³adopted city² of Windsor; Maritimer at
heart. Irene and Eugene enjoyed many years of traveling with close friends
and family after her retirement from her years as a devoted and loving
kindergarten teacher at J.E. Benson Public School. Irene generously
volunteered her time to Maycourt. Music played an important part in her
life, and she took part in the Malden Park volunteer music program. Irene
was a devout member of Glenwood United Church for many years. Her positive
support and encouraging words will be deeply missed by all who knew her. If
you so desire, donations to Windsor and Essex County Cancer Centre
Foundation, Malden Park Continuing Care-Palliative Unit, or Charity of
Choice would be appreciated by the family. Visitation Tuesday, 3-5 and 7-9
p.m. Funeral Service Wednesday, 11:30 a.m. at Families First 3260 Dougall
Ave. South Windsor, 519-969-5841. Interment at Victoria Memorial Gardens.
