Percy Vernon Goodwin 1923-2012
Percy Vernon Goodwin - 89, Truro, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday afternoon, October 19, 2012, at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born June 12, 1923, in Debert, he was a son of the late Calvin and Lillian (Matthews) Goodwin.
Percy was a veteran of the Second World War, having served with Royal Canadian Air Force. He worked for 38 years with Dominion Stores. Percy loved to travel, especially to very hot places, enjoyed music and loved being in the sunshine.
Percy is survived by his sister, Wanda (Paul) Comeau, Truro; brothers, Terry Goodwin, Truro; Bryce (Ann) Goodwin, Lower Truro; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Madeline (Lorne) Bigney.
Private family interment has taken place in Middle Road Cemetery, Debert. All are invited to a memorial service that will be held 2:30 p.m., Sunday, October 21, 2012, in The Peoples Church, 15 Elm Street, Truro, Pastor Ken Fillmore officiating. Reception will follow. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Percy's memory to a charity of choice are welcomed.
