Obit (1990) - R. Douglas "Harry" SMITH

Oct. 16, 1990 Halifax Chronicle Herald:
SMITH, R.D. Harry - 73, Upper Linden, Cumberland County, died Monday at home.  Born in East Mapleton, he was a son of the late Robie and Lila (Smith) Smith.  He was a member of Orange Lodge, Port Howe, for a number of years.  He was an adherent of Renwick United Church, Linden.  He was self-employed in the trucking industry, retiring in 1980.  He is survived by his wife, the former Lillian M.E. Wood; two daughters, Loretta (Mrs. Richard Abernethy), Yellowknife, N.W.T.; Dianne (Mrs. Tom Brooks), Linden; a son, Mervyn, Millvale; three sisters, Alice (Mrs. Lloyd Harkness), Georgina (Mrs. Deane Maston), both of Amherst; Audrey (Mrs. Burton O'Leary), Lower Sackville; five brothers, Estey, Saint John, N.B.; Bertram, Montreal; Worden, Albuquerque, N.M.; Hedley, Lower Sackville; Shirley, Amherst; four granddaughters; seven grandsons; several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a sister in infancy; a brother, Benjamin.  The body is in Allen Funeral
Home, Oxford, visiting today and Wednesday, where funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Rev. Barbara Bryce officiating.  Burial will be in Mapleton Cemetery.  Donations to Renwick United Church, Mapleton Cemetery, Mapleton United Church or Canadian Cancer Society.
