OBITUARY: Mrs. J. MacAleese Passes Away
The death of Mrs. John MacAleese of Apple River, occurred at her home on
Wednesday. For many years Mr. and Mrs. MacAleese have operated the MacAleese
House, meeting many of the traveling public and becoming well-known
throughout the province. Mrs. MacAleese was a member of the United Church
and took an active interest in it's work. She was 78 years of age, a
daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Howard Copp of Apple River. She had
resided here all her life. Surviving are her husband, and one daughter,
Susie (Mrs. Leslie Nickerson) of Wood Harbour; six sisters, Mrs. Alice
MacAleese in Alberta; Mrs. Maude Smith in Maine; Mrs. Kempton Rushton of
Parrsboro; Mrs. Percy Drew and Mrs. Stewart Atkinson of Apple River; and one
brother, Albert Copp of Amherst. Another brother, James Copp of Londonderry,
predeceased her two weeks ago and a third brother, John of Apple River, died
several years ago. The funeral was held from the home in Apple River on
Friday at 2 p.m.
