Alma Elizabeth Bennett was Mrs. Gerald Stemmler in Ontario in 1972.

Therefore, I'm assuming the marriage ended in divorce.

A pretty wedding of much interest took place at the J. Wesley Smith Memorial
United Church in Halifax on Saturday evening, June 15th, at seven o'clock,
when Alma Elizabeth Bennett daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Bennett of
Parrsboro, became the bride of Watson DeWolfe Barteaux, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Vance Barteaux of Advocate. The church decorations------------------------

OSCAR BENNETT
Oscar Bennett, 88, passed away suddenly, August 19th, at Camp Hill Hospital,
Halifax. He was born at Apple River in 1884, but resided in Parrsboro most
of his life. He was married to Effie McPhee, a daughter of Charles McPhee,
who passed away in 1948. He is survived by six daughters and four sons:
Viola (Mrs. Harris Rhuda), Beverly, Mass.; Anne (Mrs. L. Bliss), Montreal;
Bella (Mrs. Ronald Welch), Parrsboro; Beulah (Mrs. Craig Gilbert); ***Alma
(Mrs. Gerald Stemmler)***, and Ethyl, Ontario; Horace Bennett, Parrsboro;
Rupert, Ste. Catherines; Hartney, Massachusetts; and Jack, Hamilton,
Ontario. He also had 26 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The
funeral service was held at Smith's Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 22nd.
The pallbearers were Douglas Trewin, Conrad Babineau, James Legere, Joseph
Wilkinson. The service was conducted by the Rev, H. Bezanson. Interment was
made in the Methodist Cemetery in Parrsboro.

OBITUARY: Mrs. Effie Bennett
Following an illness of several months, the death of Mrs. Effie Bennett,
wife of Oscar Bennett, occurred here on Tuesday evening, July 29th at her
home on Upper Main Street. Many friends learned with regret of her passing.
Sixty years of age, Mrs. Bennett was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles
MacPhee of Diligent River. Surviving besides her husband are six daughters
and four sons; (Viola) Mrs. Harris Rhuda of Somerville, Mass., who has been
with her mother during her illness; (Ann) Mrs. Lester Bliss of Montreal;
(Bella) Mrs. Ronald Welsh, at present in Ontario; ***(Alma) Mrs. W.
Barteaux***, at present in Parrsboro; and Beula and Ethel at home. The sons
are Horace, Rupert, Hartney and Jack, all of Parrsboro. Also surviving are
one brother, Thomas MacPhee of Parrsboro and three sisters, Mrs. Ola Sears
and Miss Betty MacPhee, both of Long Island, N.Y., and Mrs. Roland Jenna of
New Hampshire, all of whom visited Mrs. Bennett this summer. The funeral
service was held from her late residence on Friday afternoon with interment
in the United Cemetery.
