Leonard C. Canning 1928 - 2012
CANNING, LEONARD C. – 84, of Parrsboro and formerly of Fox River passed away Sunday, September 30, 2012 at the South Cumberland Community Care Centre, Parrsboro. Born in Fox River, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Bowden) Canning. He is survived by daughters, Barbara Field (James), Great Village; Helen Field (Marshall), Advocate Harbour; Bernice Slocum (Ron), Glenholme; Mary Morris (David), Ward’s Brook; a son, Brian (Marjorie), Diligent River; 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Muriel M. Allen; sisters, Daisy, Ruby; brothers, Leslie, George. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Tuesday [October 2, 2012] at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday [October 3, 2012], Rev. Greg Doyle officiating. Private family committal at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the South Cumberland Community Care
Centre Foundation or to a charity of choice.

CANNING, Muriel M. - 70, Smith Avenue, Parrsboro, and formerly of Fox River, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2005, at home. Born in Fox River, she was a daughter of Ruby (McCully) Allen, Fox River, and the late Roland Allen. She was a life member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Fox River, having taught Sunday School and was a member of the choir for many years. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Leonard; daughters, Barbara Field (James), Great Village; Helen Field (Marshall), Advocate; Bernice Slocum (Ronnie), Glenholme; Mary Morris (David), Port Greville; son, Brian (Marjorie), Diligent River; special granddaughter, Stacey, Amherst; sisters, Barbara Warren, Truro; Madeline Lake, Fox River; Ethel Mumford (Derek), Parrsboro; brothers, James (Joanne), Fox River; Charles (Millie), Parrsboro; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today in Smith's Funeral Home, Parrsboro. Funeral 2 p.m. Wednesday in
